SPECIFICALLY...How has Black Friday affected your day to day play? I am beginning to realize that BF has had a greater impact on me than I originally thought it would. One of the ways it has adversely affected me is this ...I normally played in tournaments in the $10 to $12 range and for the most part was more than able to hold my own. Now with the big guns gone and the mega plethora(I know it's redundant) of tourneys in the $15 to $50 range missing from many players daily schedule, those who would normally play in them have gravitated down into my $10 to $12 range making the post bubble stages of these tourneys much more difficult. I still manage to cash frequently, but alas... that's all I seem to be doing is cashing, I am hardley making a profit. I mean, I play a $10 tourney, pop the bubble and now I am in a field of 30 - 40 players where I don't recognize 75% of the players names. I check their names out and see that most of their history was on PS and FT at the higher buy ins, This is also evident by the level of their play. I have been getting crushed post bubble in $10 - $12 tournaments since Black Friday. So, I have decided to sit back a bit...try to satty into the U.S. Sunday majors...play in the micro stakes cash games while I read a few cash game books, watch some cash game videos and scour the forums for ways to improve my cash game. Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas on my strategy? And again....how has Black Friday affected your day to day play and how do you plan to adjust? Thanks, FITEMAN

Black Friday has killed me as a micro-stakes MTT grinder. Through $1.10 MTTs and the occasional $2.20 180 mans on Stars before BF, I was able to turn $13 into $117 and $17 into $134, respectively. Now it is much more difficult to get in the volume required at those stakes, so I find myself having to venture into cash games (yikes!) and STTs.

If anything it has helped me. Back in the winter I was playing all kinds of freerolls trying to get a little money online to play with, the first place I won something on was Carbon in a CC freeroll. The traffic has picked up a little on Carbon since Black Friday plus May and the start of June has been the best that poker has been for me. I do feel awful for people who had the rolls on fulltilt and ps.

I try to average winning $30 a week pre-Black Friday. The last two Saturdays I won $33 and $27 respectively. Fortunately, I have been doing a little homework to find where to try to make money. I found the Bodog Cash PerSuit 4 week bonus which padded my account for $15 on 3 different weeks, also reaching frequent player points on some poker sites to be invited to freerolls,(I know Bodog has a 200 points freeroll and FeltStars has a freeroll if you hit 100 player points) watching my dozen forums to see where the money is being played at, etc. I miss the good old days, where in a week I could find over 3 $1000 freerolls a week. However, I am in more tourneys with 40-50 players and holding my own to win $4 here and there frequently when you just need to make the final table to cash. Nothing to write home about as far as big scores. $13 is as high as my win in a single tourney has been post- Black Friday. Also, had to find a few more poker sites to play at.

EDIT: Srsly, I play for an hour on my lunchbreak at work and the eastern euro daytime nits are easy to beat, at the micros at least, if they raise, specially in EP, they generally have a premium, call behind in LP with speculative hands and profit when they cant fold their overpair, if they limp they have a PP that they're going to limp/call with and fold to a cbet on any flop with an overcard, iso-raise wide, cbet flops and profit?? It has changed my game, used to play 4 tables of 6max on FTP, now playing anywhere between 16-24 FR tables on stars, I have tableninja from when I played there before, and with TN the software is easier to MMT on pokerstars imo so I am playing to the strengths of the software i'm on. Currently very focused and enjoying the increased volume, loving poker atm. |

I'm now mainly only playing Live. Online has become mainly luck to win, with all-in's with nothing. You can't even see a flop anymore with a decent hand. Online sucks anymore. I miss Full-Tilt when you could actually find a decent game.

BF hasn't effected me at all. A couple of months before BF I had rearranged all me playing time so that I could play live at the local poker club, haven't played online since. I'll probably only play in some of the larger forum games such as the Head-Up tournament or CCCoHE and etc.

Black Friday was a disaster for me. I had built a decent bankroll at Full Tilt and had a regular routine... 21-25 days per month, 90-120 minutes per day 3 Tables - Rush Poker NLHE $0.25/$0.50 In my second year of Iron man, and with increased play in Jan/Feb and Jun/Jul to clear Mid and Year-End bonuses, I was averaging over $200 per month in cleared bonuses. For me, Rush Poker and Iron man were a perfect combination. By the end of this year, while maintaining proper BRM, I would have been at higher limits and qualified for Black Card. Now I'm starting from scratch and still not ready to deposit anywhere. As a result, I actually spend more time online cranking through freerolls to kick-start a bankroll. I've had some luck but still want my Rush Poker back!

I have had no luck whatsoever since BF. I dont know if its the people I am up against now or what but I get followed no matter what I do and end up getting sucked out by people who have no reason to be in the hand other than fishing. I think a lot of it has to do with player interface with different software now as I was getting really good reads on Full tilt and Poker Stars. Prior to FT getting shut down I had a nice bankroll !!!. I am just learning and trying to take notes on people but the way people play it seems like are WAAAY hard to follow on these new sites I have enlisted on.

Used to play NoLimit Hold'em 150-200 stts/day on FTP. Now I never play online. I play 4/8 half kill limit Omaha Hi Lo live at the casino once a week, bar poker once a week, and my home league once a month and sell cars the rest of my time. More money less fun. I miss volume poker. Oh...I never post on cc anymore either.

This is going to sound simplistic, but honestly the biggest blow to me is not playing on FT. At Full Tilt there was always a large population of active players and now I can't get to a site that is remotely similar. Carbon is fun and all but I miss the 10,000 person+ daily dollar. Those were some fun tournaments.

Hasn't hardly affected me at all. Merge network gained a lot of traffic, many of their tournies have larger fields/guarantees now. Not sure if the fields are any harder, seems about the same so far. Ongame/ipoker are the other two networks I play on, that weren't open to USA players pre-Black Friday, so zero change there.
