SO PATIENT FOR SO LONG, SO GONE, SO QUICK

I was actually proud of myself. I was playing tight aggressive. Only playing good starting hands , being patient, not getting intro hi risk situations. My chip satack steadily increasing. Then as it always does, I get the big hand, in position, with A all-in in front of me. It's folded around to me, decision time. I have the Ace Magnets (pocket kings) The player who went all in has been raising almost every hand. Could he have the rockets, big slick, ace rag, smaller pocket pair? Any of these are likely. Well there is always that defining hand in tournament play, I call, he turns over 6-2os, I'm feeling pretty good about my chances, but this is JOKERSTARS and I have been murdered by hands just like this before, no givens in poker right? the flop comes 8-9-j all hearts, I have the two black kings, he has the 6 of spades, and the two of hearts, the turn is YES, the king of hearts, the river A nine of clubs.
I did what I was suppossed to do, got in with the better starting hand. This isn't A vent, brag ,or bad beat story.
It's the explaination that the big pairs don't always hold up, you can play well an entire tourny, do it all right , and be gone in one hand in no-limit. In this particular tourny I had some hands hold up as they should. won A few that I was behind after the flop, and lost to A inferior, starting hand. It wasn't inferior after the river. It happens just as sure as god made little green apples. It's not the last time either. I have learned the lesson of not being too upset about any others player or suck out.
The acceptance of this facet of poker, has in recent times helped me to understand that although I had the superior hand in the beggining, Sometimes, laying them down to protect my accumulated chip stack would of also been A good move. It was A 50-50 toss up, as to whether i should of called, once I did then it was out of my hands as to the outcome. Lesson learned.

Yes; sometimes the best hand does not win, and is true it is necessary to protect the hand with a powerful raise; now if our hand is powerfull then we must do a slowplay to take all pot to us!

Things do happen in poker against the odds. I was in a home game today and 2 people were AIPL, I was dealing and one had JJ, the other AJ.

So, JJ ahead preflop.

Flop brough an ace (with 2 other diamonds)

AJ ahead.

Turn Jd

JJ ahead with a set

River 9 diamonds, giving the AJ the winning hand once4 again. They swapped the best hand over every street. These things happen.

Dude, according to your hand history, you hit a full house, which beats a flush, last time I checked.
