SNGs - what's the best number of seats??

I play the 45 player SNGs and I have had quite a bit of success. In the last 6 SNGs I have entered, I have finished 1st, 4th, 4th, 1st, 3rd and 3rd.

I knew quite a few of you play the 9 seat SNGs and I was wondering if any of you find an advantage by playing a single table SNG or is a larger number of players advantagous as it pays more positions and the prize pool is bigger.

Thoughts???

I normally play the shorthanded SNG's, & have been playing the Turbo's lately. Pays 2 spots, don't last 2 long & fairly easy to cash. Harder to set aside enough time for larger SNG's for me. When I have the time usually try MTT freezeouts.

i like to play the 6-handers because they finish within a couple hours and you get results quicker.
the 45 seaters are fun too, but they take much longer, and are harder to place in.
10 seaters are a good way of practising switching gears, and serve as a good happy medium for me

I play almost exclusivly 6 seat SNG's, much more skill involved in short-handed play and more folk than you would think are oblivious to the importance knowing and inderstanding this. (Basically more fish at the short handed tables)

10 seat tables still have this element once the numbers drop but bear in mind some folk just can't change gears at the right time. Some players at the 10 seat tables accumulate chips, find themselves in the final 4 or 5 and play like they have been because they figure they are doing in right.

I have won a few of the 45 seaters and never made it to the 2nd break. I find that they go quite quick and I it's quite easy to get into the top 7. I also find that for the extra bit of time over the smaller seaters, you are getting a MUCH better return on your dollar.

Christ Gord, looking at your placings in the 45-seat SnG's I would say you're playing at the right tourney size for you. Great results!

It depends how much time I have. If I have a while I prefer the 45 mans, as most sit n go players at the lower limits are inexperienced, so it is still fairly easy to money. For quick sit n goes you can't beat 6-handed.

I like the 9 player SNG's for consistency however the payout's are fairly small so you need to be patient. The 180 player one's are quite appealing that have shown up on pokerstars now, very big payouts for the top few places!!
