Site Name: Same everywhere? At the moment, I belong to 4 poker sites. I will slowly be expanding. I always use the same SN. I notice some players do this too, and some have different names on different sites. Is there any reason to use a different SN? I cant off the bat see any advantage - except for players who dominate me one one site being able to get me in the first few games on another and vice versa, but dont really see this as any lasting thing. Thoughts?

I have varying screen names...although I would have preferred to have a consistent one across the board (unfortunately the one I wanted, = CC User ID & is a nick for moi, was already nabbed by someone else)...or perhaps I have multiple personalities ?

I use phoebepussy accross all sites (except carbon who make me spell pussy as pussie) I started playing on Titan where I played ring games and the Saturday night cardschat game only,I enjoyed the cardschat games to the extent that I joined several other sites purely to play their cardschat tourneys I kept the same name for consistancy and because I thought it was more friendly as I was likely to play the same players on each site

My SN is usually the same in some variance at all the sites I play at. They might vary to an extent but are generelly the same. I never really minded playing the same players on other sites that I play on,for the simple fact that I am pretty confident on my level of play.

re: Site Name: Same everywhere? poker Using different screen names makes gathering information on you more difficult, that's all. I'm only "thepokerkid123" on forums, I keep the same name for them to be open about discussion but at the tables is a different matter. ![]()

...for some people its prob a big advantage...obvious example, isildur...if he was to go on to another site with same name, hes easy for townsand to search and stalk to find out when he pisses, and whether or not he is alergic to anything...but if he has a different name, he wont know and can piss withot it being discussed by 75 pros

re: Site Name: Same everywhere? poker Stupidity to have the same screen name as 95% do. It is a big advantage to me for others not to know me. I know everyone extremely well because I study players hard and do make lists while the same don't know me most of the time even though we have been playing for few years. Even bigger advantage is the opportunity to play ring knowing your opponents then moving to sister site joining same table with none knowing you. I belong up to seven sites on same network with all being quite different screen names. Some Networks require same screen name for all poker sites joined but most demand different. Makes no sense to me why.

What's in a name? I play on around 10-12 sites, and I usually stick to Dogfish44 wherever possible... except on the few sites where your player name cannot be the same as your login name, in which case it becomes 44Dogfish. I've used Dogfish as a nick when I first got online in the IRC chat rooms some 13 years ago. I used to buy my T-shirts from a little shop called Dogfish/Catfish (Dogfish for Guys, Catfish for girls) and so adopted that as my nick back in 1997. The 44 comes from my old American Football number, and my birthday coincidentally happens to land on the 44th day of the year. As I said earlier I am signed to around 10-12 sites but have a main six that I use regularly. The only exception to the above nickname criteria, is the first site I signed up for, FTP. On FTP I have the rather cumbersome ID of Dogfish44-MD57. When I signed up to FTP about a year ago, there was already a Dogfish44 and I didn't have the presence of mind then to switch it around. So I tagged on the end the MD57, to honour a close friend of mine who's death I learned of on Mothers Day 2009. Martyn Doust #57 was not only a close friend, but a team-mate and fellow coach for the UEA Pirates, our American Football team. Where am I going with this, I hear you ask. Well, one year to the day of learning of Martyn's passing, I ended up placing 5th in the CC OFC $400 freeroll on FTP. So I guess someone was watching over me, but then again, what's in a name?
