Personally, I have absolutely no problem with profanity at the poker table. The rules say otherwise though and Mike was given the time out for good reason. What Shawn did was a million times worse though. It affected the hand and that kind of behavior should not be tolerated. Sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me. But letting people know what you folded? Unacceptable.

Mike is completely justified in that reaction. Perfectly normal language for many people as well and I don't personally see the problem with it at a poker table, but at the same time the rules are the rules and are quite clear so Mike is guilty here also.

Shawn's offense is far worse than Mike's in my opinion though.

Sheikhan is such a jackass. I just can't stand the guy.

I agree that while Mike broke the rules, Shawn's behavior was much worse and should have gotten him a more severe penalty.

The swearing rules have been changed. I believe you are now allowed to cuss, just not directly at someone. In other words you can say "F#@K!" when your opponent flops a set or something, but you can't say "FU" directly to someone or call them a name.

I have to side with mike here. It is an appropriate response for shawn's stupidity...

I am very happy they changed the swearing rule, in the words of that one dude with the tape on his mouth, "who are [they] to be the moral police?"

Reg the OP, they should not have been given the same penalty. The punishment should fit the crime.

I remember this classic moment very clearly.Mike was in the right 100%.

Funny thing is I still have to remind people online from time to time not to be typing stuff like "Damn!I just folded the nut flush" when people are still in the hand.I don't mind them giving me free info,but wait till the f***in hand is over!

Then again I cant stand sheiky n have a lot of respect for Madasow so abit bias
