Should i move up a limit? been a keen poker player for a couple of years, and now im 18 i deposited 300 dollars 5 days ago on full tilt, ive been using strict BRM, grinding at 10+1 Sng, playing 7 at once. After this time im up to 650, and only encounted one short downswing, which i immediatly bounced back on. At 600 i was supposed to move up to 20+2, but i was a bit scared of not doing as well, as i am making steady profit at this limit, and another downswing like the one i had could really screw me. Are the players much better at this higher limit? Should i move up anyway, or see how i do on 10+1 for a bit longer? thanks very much, heres is a short graph of me, over the first 150 odd SnGs ![]()

tenbob is right on the money thing. work it up to a couple grand first. as for better players at higher levels, if you think they are you will play different. the amount of money someone has, is no measure of there compitence as a poker player. I make 6 figs, have no debt, and loads of spare cash and well I'm a crappy poker player, really don't care about the day to day grind. I just get a kick out of the big scores. But my buisness is my buisness and I take it seriously, have a plan, and manage it ruthlessly. I recommend, if you are serious about this, get organized. read a lot, not just poker books either. study psycology and learn how to identify your faults to fix them and others faults to EXPLOIT them! I have been reserching the anonimity aspect of online poker. after reading numerous phsycology of poker type books, I found limited info that was based on science, it was mainly guess work. I have found some articles on driving/road rage that resemble what I see on the tables. Also I am currently reading an online book that is about phsycology that has alot about group mentality associated with anonimity such as riots that is interesting. It resembles alot of the players that seem to start playing the same at a table. Well links to one good article and this book are attached. In the article they block traffic as a light turns green, with different vehicles, one of which is a pickup with a rifle in a gun rack. Pretty funny read! try and relate it to poker it may help. Good Luck

erm, im not sure, that downswing on the graph was unbelievable i was ready for packing up i couldnt believe how bad i ran. But on the next two sessions i played brilliantly and ran well too so recovered easily. I think its best too see a couple hundred more SnGs before moving up so then i have a bigger sample size to assess and see where im at

Feel it in your gut At the end of the day, regardless of what all the fancy formulas and advice says, you need to be comfortable at the new limit. From your first post, you sound quite tentative about the new limit as well as fearful of a significant downswing. A saying as old as poker itself " Scared money is dead money. " It sounds to me like a few unlucky hands at the new limit would definitely have you playing suboptimally and donating more of your carefully won bankroll.

re: Should i move up a limit? poker Why move up if your making money and your comfortable. Players are better and it will make a difference. You could try a couple tables at that while playing the rest at your comfortable level and try it out. Then you could see how it feels before going totally into it. But like I said if your already making a good profit then stay at it.
