Poker After Dark Series begins January 2 with Shana Hiatt
Wed, Dec 27th, 2006 NBC's new late night series, 'Poker After Dark' debuts January 2, 2007 at 2a.m. ET/PT (that is late New Year's night for all you party poker go-ers). The hour-long how will air Monday through Saturday, and will be hosted by popular former World Poker Tour hostess and one of Maxim magazine's "Hot 100 of 2005", Shana Hiatt. Starting each Monday over the next 52 weeks, you can watch a different set of 6 poker professionals compete for that week's $120,000 first place prize. The winner will be proclaimed on each Friday night show. Monday through Friday shows air from 2-3 am ET/PT. Then on Saturday, on what is dubbed the "director's cut", you can gain insight on the past week's play, as Hiatt and the winner of the week revisit important hands and offer commentary on strategies used by the winner and share what strategies the winner thought other players used. Saturday shows air from 1-2 am ET/PT following "Saturday Night Live". Many of your favorite professionals have already signed up to play, including: Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Erick Lindgren, Jennifer Harman and Gus Hansen. Set in back rooms of various casinos on the Vegas strip, "Poker After Dark" gives an intimate look inside a poker game usually reserved for only the eyes of the professional poker players. "There's a vibrant late night audience looking for original programming," said Marc Graboff, President, NBC Universal Television, West Coast. "We felt this inside look at the professional poker scene is perfect for late night television and those viewers seeking an unique and original broadcast," added Graboff. "Poker After Dark" is produced in conjunction with Poker Productions, the only television production company owned and operated by top professional poker players. Producers Mori Eskandani and Eric Drache bring 63 years of combined poker experience to their company and both have played a key role in producing some of television's best poker shows, including both seasons of NBC's "Heads Up Championship," two seasons of GSN's "High Stakes Poker," three seasons of Fox Sports Net and NBC's "Poker Superstars" and CBS' "Intercontinental Poker Championship." |
