Set over Set %?

Finally gave myself the kick up the arse i needed and play properly rolled 2NL and bought HEM and work my way up.
Now then, I've been 6-tabling and find my graph going up and down between +$1 and -$11 and dont know wtf i am doing wrong. My biggest drops have came from getting beat set over set 3 x within the last 100 hands .
How many times should this happen? Surely not 3%? I am just getting the bad side of variance right?
Also how long can I expect it to take for my graph to go up, I'm playing a slightly TAG style and getting it in good mostly

then over time you will profit

Worrying about set over set situations is pretty counter productive. Those are just coolers. They are unavoidable situations where you're destined to get the money in bad.

If you're 6-tabling and only breaking even, one of the most common leaks in your game will be a falling red line, when you filter your results won without showdown. This is because you're unable to focus on each table as clearly and miss a lot of good bluffing opportunities, as well as generally cBet too frequently and then give up.

I know it's NL2, so there aren't that many opportunities to bluff, and ABC poker should get it done for you. But because you can't concentrate on each table as much, you'll find your reads are off.

Try 4 tabling for a little while and setting up the tables so there is no overlap. Use the bare minimum of stats in your HUD and focus more on the players at your tables.

Hopefully that will help your all import profits line start to rise.

Dude, two thousand hands ain't shit! If ya lost in 3 set over sets then you would have won in them most of the time and you may be up.

The only way to know if you are playing good is to post some hands in the HA thread. Quit worrying about these short term numbers 'cause they don't mean squat! Another way is to play 100000 hands and see if you are winning then. If you are down after that you are incredibly unlucky or you need to work on you game. Hand analysis is a much better option IMHO.

OK I'll stick it out, but my roll is down to $25, so 6-tabling is gonna make a huge dent in it. I think I'll drop to 4

i agree with tcummo as long as u keep getting the money in with the best hand overtime you will be a winner but sometimes you will get some bad beats or face a higher set in which you cant do anything but see you money go away.

As I said, worrying about set over set situations is pointless, but in relation to you graph:

I was wrong...you're not cbetting too much. Your red line looks ok, though ideally you'll want it to hover around $0 or even rise (like mine ).

You seem to be losing too much at showdown, which to me means you're stacking off too light. Review your showdown hands (that's one of the benefits of using tracking software) and try to find situations where you're making big mistakes going to showdown. Try to plug the leaks.

2k hands is a pretty useless sample, as variance (both positive and negative) can last for 10s of thousands of hands.

I'd still suggest 4 tabling for a while or even going down to 2 tabling and then adding a table a week, based on results.

IMO your redline should be dropping. at these stakes players will take lots of hands to showdown so trying to blow people off hands is counter productive. I know set over set is rare but folding 55-22 from EP might help you prevent this from happening to you. I know it's not a big sample but think maybe your seeing too many showdowns. Most winning 2nl graphs I've seen in the past(probably all IDK) all have a dropping redline and accending blueline.
