Send ID to cash out??

I just read a post over on 2+2 which said that Everest Poker ask you to send ID if you wish to cash out beyond what you have deposited (as a "standard" thing). I know Mansion Poker do that as well (and that is why I didn't join them).

Now I have yet to cashout at any site where my withdrawal exceeds my deposits (sad but true) but I do intend to do that at some stage very soon. But I am worried as I really resent the idea of having to send confidential info to any Tom, Dick and Charlie just to get access to my own hard earned cash.

Could anyone let me know if any other sites do this "Send us your proof of ID if you want your cash" set up?

Standard - Poker sites are worth billion of dollars, think they really care about you and are going to scam you for a few hundred dollars?

i had to do it for 1 site, think it was a Prima site,Pokertime or Dreampoker then i got the cash. buck

I think a fair few sites are doing this now depending on your method of withdrawal. It's a safety precaution and you should only ever have to do it once per site. It can be a bit of a pain but I'd rather do that than have the site taken over by scammers.

I'm having to jump through hoops on FTP to get our money back also. It is funny (not ha-ha), that they can confirm and accept your money easily enough in literally seconds; however the same information can't be used on the flip side to send funds back to you.

I agree in that I should not have to put forth my firstborn to receive $100 or so. I also understand the verification necessary but please... credit card statements, etc. quite frankly are no one's business but mine.

All I can suggest is to redact any information on everything you send that you wouldn't want everyone in the world seeing.

If you're faxing info, use a big, fat, black sharpie pen to obiliterate your credit card number and such. If you are electronically transmitting use editing software, black out sensitive info then save it out as a jpg so no one can else can undo your blacked out areas. Good luck getting your funds!

Name, address, phone numbers are commonly accessible information.
Other than that, I wouldn't send anything else for your own personal information security. Weigh out what the 'cash out' money value is vs. the cost if you had to undo an Identity Theft scam.

I'm not suggesting the poker sites themselves would do this, as obviously there is more at stake for them. But anytime you send any identifying information via email you are at risk.

Also, if you are in a jurisdiction where Neteller still works, it`s still the best way to go and avoids most of these problems. You may have to go through security checks to set up your Neteller account but, once that is done, the poker sites usually accept a withdrawal to that without any further questions, because they know it is a secure(ish) system.

I have withdrawn to Neteller over and above my original deposit from several different sites and never had to face any form of questioning.

I have a jpg of my drivers license.. anything i dont want someone to have has been photoshopped, just blurred enough to be illegible. I've provided the jpg to several sites and got my withdrawls without a problem

Well, PokerStars never asked me for ID. I like them

I had similar problems with Ultimate Bet. They actually wanted my credit card and drivers license i find the two in conjunction a little OTT.

Most sites are reasonable in that they ask for id to ensure they send cheques to the correct address.
