I've done worse. Got KK, UTG+1 i think had raised and had a caller. The window popped up later than it normally did and i was busy trying to get the right amount to reraise because of the two callers when all of a sudden the stupid thing just auto folds (i didn't hear the buzzer coz my music was on pretty loud).

I disconnected twice with K/K, but never with A/A.

I remember that I'd have had a big loss if I'd played them the first time, and a big win if I had played them the second time.

ive folded aces pre flop once only because i though i had a,4 so just mucked it without paying too much attention, set of jacks won the hand though, so i say my fold was pure skill

At this point I let the answering machine get it. If it's someone you know yelling about how they're about to die than you can get it and ignore the tournament, but otherwise just play the tourney and return the call at your first break.

I folded AA first hand to the tournament when I forgot it started already, 2 other people went all-in pre-flop (I think, thread is around here some where) and one of them hit a set so I would've lost :S

that's why I'm always afraid to run to the bathroom during tournaments...(sometimes it seems to be forever between breaks lol). But as arkadiy said, it can also help you sometimes, lol.

I'm still curious to know whether you would have won the hand Paranormal...

tough luck

......i hate that, but sometimes honestly it helps. Sometimes i will get up to get food or phone or something.....i see the i'm back sign and i wonder what hand i've missed. I've never missed aces, but Jacks and 10s and some AK's and pretty good hands, but if you look at it. Alot of times your GREAT hand winds up losing, such as my Js, they would have lost to pocket 8s once. So check if you wouldve won there. Good luck, hope you dont miss aces no more

You got lucky.

Never ever ever ever ever play the first hand of a tournament. No matter what cards you have.

That is such a stupid rule, you should play the hand just like you would play any other. It doesn't make a difference if it's the first one. Are you seriously saying you would fold aces or kings just because it's the first hand of the tournament?

Yes. And I have.

The first few hands are usually donkfests where it is better to not get involved.

So in the first few hands you get idiots pushing with 84o and you think it's a good idea to fold aces or kings?

It's quite obv that getting it in as a 90% favorite is a bad idea

I don't understand why you people insist on playing the first hand of the tournament any different than the hands in the middle. If you think you can get your money in as a favourite DO IT!

It depends on what the size and stakes of the tourney, for example I would never go in on the first hand of a large freeroll period. Mainly because half the table goes in and your AA might not stand up to a rondom 2 pair.
