Scotty NGUYEN!!!!
what a total jerk. i couldnt believe the way he acted @ the HORSE final table. I understand he was drunk (as usual) and i understand the young guy was making him mad by celebrating his wins. but come on now, the kid didnt mean any disrespect to anyone and apologized after he realized what he was doing. Hell Scotty couldnt even stand up in his interview after winning, he almost fell off the stage. No LONGER THE PRINCE OF POKER in my book. More like the Punk of Poker. Hes always been an arrogant jackass anyways wearing all that gold, come on scotty, MR. T even gave that up back in the 80s. He's showing his cards to the crowd and getting into it with Lindgren. I wish Lindgren wouldve just thumped his drunk, skinny asian ass over

i disagree about how scotty played. to me I think it depends on how you look at it. sure it is rude and unusual amongst people who try to show some class while playin the sport, but the way I see it is that it is even more exciting when emotions are involved. I think it's good for the sport. I believe if I was in that situation against scotty, it would make me that much of a better player if I were to beat him. If you can train yourself to ignore the other players who are tryin to play mind games with you and can keep composure yoy truely are a great player. And another thing I'd like to mention is the fact that puffinugs shouldn't make comments like that about someone's race, that is just ignorant.

Was there an interview? - i didnt see it on the ESPN show i saw.
Lindgren was well annoyed at him and i don't blame him, Scotty acted like a prize prat and did himself no favours at all. So much for honouring the memory of Chip Reese (RIP) ![]() |

I found Scotty's behavior atleast as detestable as Amatuer player Kahn's monkey calls and dancing in celebration at last years Main Event.
They have since created a rule to stop all that. Now only if they'll create a rule to stop Scotty's drinking at the table .. ![]() |

Oh yeah Katharine, I agree.....Hevad Kahn was WAYYYY more annoying than Scotty....problem is....people get it in their heads that someone is supposed to act a certain way all the time.
If this was Matusaw, Hellmuth, Tony G. or Devilfish, we wouldn't be talking about this in the 3rd thread since this show aired a month ago. Scotty is taking all of this flack for something he RARELY shows on TV...but Hellmuth and others do it every chance they get..and while people say things about his whining, there isn't near the uproar that Scotty got because someone tagged him with the name....the Ambassador of Poker. |

It's part of the game, look at Tony G that guy is much more of an ass then anyone at the poker table, Scotty was just having a bad day i'd say, i love hearing trash talk to me i just smile at them and don't say anything makes them steam even more.

And as for his sponsors, that's an interesting one. The $50K HORSE was the one event Scotty played wearing a Full Tilt logo - you'll notice that he now wears a Poker Stars patch instead. Apparently it was only supposed to be a one-off deal anyway, so it wasn't his behaviour that ended the Full Tilt relationship, but it's interesting that the footage of him being an arse will forever show him wearing a Full Tilt logo, which he wasn't going to wear again anyway. |

When Lindgren got knocked out you could tell he was really pissed, but was trying to maintain... He told it like it is... You can't beat a lucky drunk.
Scot is a very talented poker player and he plays all games well. He has talent and is essentially an old time gambler when prevented with a close hand. I think he would have been even better if he would have played soberly. But it is rare that you never play against people who are out of control or give that appearance, drunk or sober. I would have a hard time playing against Matusow or Phil Helmuth or Tony G. because that is part of their game. These guys don't care if their opponents respect them or not, they play for cash. I will say however that all things being equal the drunk will lose in the long run against a solid player who won't overreact to his floorshow. |

well... poker is a competitive game, after last year losing before the ifnal table im sure he was just glad to be at 1, the kid was taking bows every pot he won... i can see why he acted that way, but at the same time i can see he could have acted differently about it.

Regardless of anyone else at the table, Scotty fell down several notches in my eyes. I know he apologized somewhat, but it didn't make up for that night. IMO, he has a lot of being humble ahead of him to do before he has any chance of earning a lot of people's respect back.

Since when did the f-bomb become ok as well?
A couple of years ago 10 minute penalties were happily dealt out to the slightest utterence (even that 90 year old got one) - not this year it seems. Bomb central in the Rio. Anyone remember last year when Eli Elezra won his 1st bracelet? His HU oppenent was....Scotty Nguyen and both were steaming drunk, pushing each others chip stacks over (because it was funny?) and climbing over the table to see each others cards. Strangely that only made a small highlight (30 secs maybe) onto ESPN. Hypocritical of Scotty to berate DeMichael for celebrating winning a pot when you happily start spouting off drunken tirades when you win yours . |

I think a total lack of decorum is what scotty is missing...it would be fine if it was in a casino or at a home game but when an event is televised there should be some standard on acceptable behaviour.
I used to be a fan........tsk tsk scotty |

Well, Todd Brunson posted about Scotty's behavior over on 2+2. Basically, he said he'd been drinking all day an the tourney went so long Scotty was beyond drunk. He kept drinking because he knew he'd crash if he didn't.
That's not an excuse for his behavior of course. I was a huge Scotty fan before this and it really left me with a bad taste in my mouth. But I guess I have to wonder how I'd come off if someone showed up at one of my home games with a camera at 3 in the morning after I'd sucked down a case of beer. Of course, I'm not a former world champion playing in the most prestigious event in poker either. It's really just a shame. |

Thanks stick for link to your blog....I didn't even bother to see what everyone was talking about till then. The apology just wasn't. I can't believe they did not cut him off, penalize him, do something to stop the drunken bullshit, I've never been to a casino that allows that kind of behaviour.
