SBRUGBY "RISE AND FALL OF A ONLINE HERO"

not too long ago sbrugby aka brian townsend was dominating the high stakes games at full tilt poker. On many occasions he would be multi-tabling 6 tables at 200-400nl holdem and 200-400 plo with atleast 100K at each table but those days are long gone(sad to say).in the last few months he has been on a $3.5 million downswing losing his online roll then transfering another million and losing that online as well.Things have not gone well for him live either as he had lost huge sums of money playing cash games during the world series of poker.
Although he is still up in his career he has lost all confidence in his game and i dont believe he would be playing 200_400 games anytime soon.Right now it seems like he has ended up like the other high stakes players who play there for a while but before u know it they are gone.
full tilt has also suffered as of late since sbrugby has not been playing ,the 200-400nl holdem game has died and it has been a while since we have seen a full ring game table(also becasue durr is not playing).
But let us remember sbrugby as a great and monumental part of online poker and let us give him praise for all his good work in the past but i think it is time to say has dominance and title of " king of high stakes online poker" are gone and are unlikely to return

i say to you now that he is just another online poker memory that will soon be forgotten

I was wondering were Brian Townsend had been. Where did you get this information?

I thought he was an amazing player. How does one like him go from riches to broke??? I mean he dominated. How?

To play $40K NL short handed or heads up I would want a working BR of four million (100x max buy in), since the variance will be a lot greater than full ring. Being "up a million" really isn't that big of a deal if your regular buy in is forty thousand (or more).

From his appearence on HSP i thought he looked a pretty good player.

He didnt use his stack to push the players off the pot as much as some others, he actually played the cards instead of just pushing all-in when in some doubt.

No shame in dropping down a level or two when your game is running cold - im sure we've all hit cold spots and wondered what to do.

GL to him

It surely seems like a wild thing. Theoretically, the pattern might be the same at any stakes, though I am sure the higher stakes are harder to maintain. The pattern for re development and Br maintenaince should also be similar. I think that loses like taht could break any one, though you probably realize the relative insignifiganced of it all at that point.

I reguraly play with a variance, though generally steadily increase. I recently had a personal issue. My wife and I were expecting. One week early, we had signifigant false labor. Didnt happen. Hurry up and wait. My anxiety led me to play more poker, I lost almost all of my bankroll. I couldnt help it, I couldnt not play. I barely recovered, We had our child, and I have been attempting to rebuild.

Full tilt crumbles because 1 guy is on a downswing and no one will play with him? Hard to believe, but, let the chips fall as they may. I'm sure Ivey, Gold and other high stakes players still keep the high stakes going, not that I really think it matters, or effects business at Full Tilt. Who in their right mind would deposit $1mill into an online poker site to begin with is beyond me. If you're a fan, as a few of you seem to be, of Brian, then it's definitely an ongoing story to follow. Hopefully he pulls it together.

i haven't seen sbrugby for awhile. I heard he was playing big cash games in 1 of the California casinos. I do not know if it is true. Durrrr has completely disappeared>.
Perhaps he is now playing in live games since I believe he just turned 21. You can follow the big online games at fulltilt and prima network on highstakesdb.com.

In addition to the previous post, it is possible either is playing on Fulltilt under a new alias. I know David Benyamine played under several names prior to signing with fulltilt and getting his own avatar. In addition I have not seen Patrick Antonious lately either.
