rules??????? ok i just need some clarification... i decided to try playing at like cardroom/casino last next to my sisters for the first time. the game was 3/6... i bought in for 40 dollars and over a three hour period i was up 240. everybody on the table was having a good time, then this new dealer started dealing gave me some trouble about talking to the player next to me about how much to bet after the turn.. i just said "it should be six not three." and he said he's the one to tell her, right. so i was like ok i'll keep my mouth shut then. then the following hand.. i was small blind and i limped in with 5 other players just calling. i had rags 9 2 offsuit something like that. the flop totally missed me. so im first to act.. he asked me check or bet???? i didn't say a word and just folded.. he then said please fold when the bet comes around.. i kinda go irritated as asked don't i have the option to fold, bet or check. he told me i had to check because im killing other peoples action???? so we called the floor man and asked they then backed him up and said i have to check and wait for a bet to come to me before i can fold????? i got irritated and just asked for racks and left.. im i wrong for folding when its my turn, 1st to act??? shouldn't i have the option just to muck it??? i understand folding out of turn kills other people action. so i told myself im not gonna go there anymore. please let me know if im wrong???? thanks

Yes you have the right to fold, but all in all its a situation that doesn't need to be discussed. Just check then fold when someone bets. Why make such an argument of somthing as stupid as folding without any contest. This is just a situation of ego instead of common sense thinking. It sounds as if you know how the game works so next time just check then fold no need to make problems at the table.

1) Yes, you have the right to fold when it is your turn. But... 2) Folding when you can check is very unorthodox. The dealer was actually doing you a favor by making you wait to fold. It protects newbies or drunks who might not know what they are doing. If everyone checks and you catch runner runner something, you'd win. So even though you were within your right, it's best not to make waves. Just feel glad that the dealer was protecting you. No need to tilt.
