Royal! Wheeee!

I know this must be a highly anticlimactic post for some of you, but it was exciting to me. This is the second royal I've ever been dealt. Both in hearts. I guess hearts are just lucky for me.

Play Money, real money, I don't care if you were throwing cards against a wall and seeing what turned face up, a Royal is still just sooooooooo pretty.

Nothing comes close to the absolute rush of adrenaline a Royal produces.

Thanks for interrupting your orgasmic experience and finding the presence of mind to catch a screen shot of it, and then posting it for all of us to enjoy.

Excellent.

I reckon I have played somewhere in the region of 200,000 hands since I have been playing online, and never had a Royal.

I don`t think that`s strange though, is it ? I don`t have a book by me where I can look it up, but isn`t the average incidence of a Royal something like once in half a million hands ?

In a real money game I actually folded a royal flush draw. xJQKc on the board, I had the ten of clubs. preflop action was limp from the button, call from the SB, I checked on the BB with TQ (we're playing $0.25/$0.50, so $1.50 pot). I bet $1 on the flop after the SB check and get 2 calls ($4.50 pot). K of clubs comes, SB checks, I check, button bets $4, SB raises to $24. I thought about calling but I figured not all of my straight flush draws are outs.

1. It's very possible one already has a flush, so straight cards may not be outs.

2. It's also very possible one has the A, even if they only have one club.

3. If someone actually has Ax both clubs, I'm drawing dead

so I fold, button shoves, SB calls. SB flips over KK and button has 56c. Ac comes up on the river, 6 high flush beats the trip kings, and I would have gotten the royal flush.

That's with 5 cards though, Texas hold 'em you get to use 7 cards. The odds are better, not sure exactly what they are, but I'm sure it's online somewhere.

But In Draw Poker you get to discard X # of cards per betting round so,
theres that.!

40/52c2/50c3 = 40/(24 010 000)~ 1/600250 .

There are 40 possible two hole cards that are suited and in the range 10,j,q,j,a . Once this player has his two hole cards fixed , there is only one unique flop that gives him a royal flush out of 50c3 possible flops .

So preflop we have 40/52c2 . Now we take this number and multiply it by 1/50c3 which is 40/52c2/50c3 =1/649740

F.Y.I. I have gotten a Royal 4x in my 10 months online.
1 - Free Chips 5/10 *NL*
1 - Freeroll NL Hold'em
1 - Actual Tournament
1 - Omaha Hi FL Freeroll (not sure of the odds here)

I am guessing I am not at 200k hands in real money online play, but otherwise I'd say I am not to far away from 100k+ and never seen a royal. I played tons of tournaments (play money) before just to see what place I could get, then decided to go to real money.

I've never had a royal flush, or even a good straight flush (as in one I got good money off of)

I have had 3 or 4 of them in 2.5 years - some of you are very unlucky. On a positive note - you haven't lost as much money as I have, but I guess that has nothing to do with luck lol.

I've had one Royal in a couple of years
Its a great feeling , I never show my cards if I have an option to muck and despite dozens of quads and a handfull of lower straight flushes I've never been tempted to show
There was something about the Royal flush that meant I couldn't resist

Extracted from the internet:

The estimated odds of being dealt a Royal Flush on the river; 1 in 43,316.

In five cards, it is 1 in 649,740. I have had one in about three years of playing. I wish I had kept better records so I could go all in on that 43,316th hand.

?!?!? when i first started playing... 3-4 years ago now... my first live SnG I had a straight flush... a week later i got my first royal... probably less than 200 hands dealt to me and i got a royal... It took about a year from there to get my next Royal... then i started playing online... I would say i See a royal once a month... but usually never get them myself, it's other people at the table...

It does not imply that you already have part. Those are the odds that, by the river, you can make a royal out of the seven cards you get to select from.
