rituals bfore playin

bfore i start playin a pokergame i put on my lucky watch rub it a few times for good luck clap my hands and light a cigarette im quite supersticious when it comes to poker rituals i.e. i never play without my lucky watchare there more players who have rituals or good luck objects (rabbit tails or something like that)?????

Campus is really near University Hospital, so I usually dip into the baby section and kill a few kids before I start my sessions. idk if it's just me but the sight of blood combined with the sound of crying really calms me down and gets me in the right mood for a poker game.

I opened this thread hoping for a serious discussion about mental checklists, setting goals, and focus techniques. Instead I read about animal and child sacrifice and the somehow even more stupid lucky watch. Oh well it had the potential to be a worthwhile thread.

haha well i wear a lucky jersey? jk i got over a couple things like not to play stupid or play stupid hands that are my favorite online hands like Jack Ten off suit or somethin like htat..when im playin in real life with my money i try and stay away from suited cards or low suited connectors like i play online..and also before i make the first move with the first hand i try and feel out the players at my table by chattin with them see if their nervous or anything cuz id usually take advanage of them.

i take my poker very serious but when i go to live tourny's i meet guys who wear a lucky cap or brought a dinky toy for luck(lol its true)and i myself wear my lucky watch! i go to casinos quit often and i know for a fact that there are a lot of people who have these feeling off superstition especially in the whole gambling/casino/poker world.i thought it was fun to know if there are guys who have that here and what it is (like the world famous bunnypaw) its maybe stupid in some other guy eyes but this tread wasnt called : serious things u do before playin....in my opinion there are more stupid things...like opening a thread with surten expectations and then find out it isnt what you thought so i just call it al stupid thing
for the people who arent all time serious and maybe have a lucky charm:it isnt stupid if it helps you with youre game even do we all know it doesnt actually help lol
now for the serious people : before i start i open opr to see what im up against on my table then i want to see as many flops as possible in the early stage and tighten up in the middle stage and loose agressive in the end stage
offcourse i use different strategys at different games my strategy for a 45entrants sng is different as a mtt with a few 1000 entrants and its player dependant
im not goin in to deep on my own strategy because its a disantvantage for myself if i run into one of cc at stars
so may youre cards be live and youre pots be monsters (some like that)

if its a really big tournament I make a sandwhich and grab a soda. It seems as though I do this everytime. Im not sure if this is considered a ritual. Just a habbit so that I dont need to get up often durring the tourney. For good luck I cant say as Ive not noticed myself as lucky yet!! LOL.

lucky rituals work for ballplayers why not cardplayers- i guess if it puts you in the right frame of mind it could be good or if it wipes out bad memories... but there are 2 sides to every coin.

I usually just close my eyes, clear by thoughts, run a few odds and charts through my head, re open my eyes, and get to work.

I like to rub the felt at the tables. It is not a superstition just helps me get a "feel" for the table. Also, It gets and sweat and or foreign matter of my fingers and feels good too.

LOL wish i could have my ritual at live games, But of course normally try to smoke a bowl/joint b4 i play. More people should b more seriouse about this thread.

I sing the "poker is fun for everyone" Pralahd Friedmann rap before I play.

I usually sign up for tournaments an hour in advance.

This gives me plenty of time to hop into my car and mow down a few pedestrians that are minding their own business on the sidewalks.

I use the bathroom so im not distracted later on.
Its is terrible to miss a good hand because you didn't
so what was need to be done before hand.

I make sure I have a new pair of Depends on. There's nothing worse than getting a real good hand and having to go to the bathroom.

Have to have my lucky hat and teeshirt.Also have a good luck charm grandson gave me a few years ago.Online tourneys I make sure to have my charm on the top of the screen....Lucky leprecaun!!!

I was at a local Indian casino a while back and watched this lady pull out pictures of her grandkids and place them across the front of a slot machine. Before each pull she would take and touch one of the pictures. Now I think slots are about pure luck so maybe it makes a difference for her. Personally, to be honest I have a $10.00 poker chip that I won in my first trip to Vegas that I sometimes fiddle with at a live game but I use it as a prop. People tend to think you are nervous when you start doing something like that suddenly and that can be used to your advantage.

Before everygame, I put in the keyboard a little pillow with 5 hearts in a shape of a clover, in the pillow have pin a little picture of a saint from the bible, and also a little keyring with a medal of buda.

I scratch the medal before start the game.

Oh, and the pillow is hand made by my wife.

I do tai chi chih and meditate b4 i go to atlantic city.

when it comes to online poker i have no superstitions or rituals but live games and tourneys i always wear a hat with pics of my mom and my daughter that i keep on the inside of the band and i never look at my whole cards one at a time i have to see them both at the same time if i accidentally see one b4 i see the other one it just irks me yes i kno its really stupid but im just crazy like that
