Ring Games: What do you consider a successful session?

Obv winning money makes it a profitable session, but what do you see as a successful session? Doesn't matter if you play one table or ten or micro or high limit.

If you thinking in terms of "sessions" then your thinking incorrectly. For the sake of argurment if i win some slanskey dollars then im happy

i dont run sessions on how much i have won in money terms rather how i played. i could 5x my buy in and donk thm all and i would see it as a bad session and viseversa lose 3x buy in to coolers and tho not sucesfull session i am not tht annoyed

I realize that poker is one long session, but yeah, for the discussion here, I'm looking at it more philisophically from a session by session perspective.

As far as sessions go, I am happy if I think I played well, win or lose.

Im gonna have to agree, I think a good session is one where I just play solid poker and hopefully dont lose too much. If I can make some good money, double a buy in or two I think its a great session.

Anything other than breaking even is good

When I know I was at my best it was a great session.

I consider a successful session, for a newer player like me, to be anytime that I learn something new about the game, make more successful reads, and hopefully win a little money. But if I can manage to drop that bottom two pair when I know I'm beat I know that I've furthered my Poker abilities.

Much the same as a long tourney and failing to make the money - if you feel within yourself you played well, done as much as you could and/or were beaten by better cards/players - fair enough, try again tomorrow

Mainly just playing solid poker. I'll look at a losing session as successful if I have had bad beat after bad beat but still remained focused and stayed off tilt.

I used to tilt alot but since I began to study or at least read something about poker on a daily basis I have worked out alot of my tilt monkey tendancies.

When I dont click the wrong buttons and go all in when i meant to fold, i like to think of it as a good session. lol. Generally when i leave the table still feeling entertained rather than bored with the game i will have done well.

When I either win, or lose but playing the hand right and getting unlucky.

Enough with these...."Oh it doesn't matter to me if I win or lose as long as I play right." Screw that....a successful session to me is if I make around $15/hr. I usually play for about 3 hrs at a time on three tables at Bodog $10 max NL.

So I guess my answer is $45+ for my 3 hour sessions.

Success here should be definied as making money. You could play well for a whole week and shed half of your bankroll. How would you feel then? Probably not that upbeat.

You can judge successful however you want. This is about how YOU feel about. You can't say someone else should feel one way or another...

On the right we got our greedy SOB republicans, and on our left we got our bleeding heart, sport is the thing, SOB democrats. Is this profound or what?

The truth is that ring or tourney is not at the heart of it. One's approach and reward is at the very heart of it. Some consider money as the only valid reward. Others consider the art and performance reward enough. I'll guess few of us are tickled at our own bad play. <<<<< Man what a great guesser I must be.

As a self proclaimed FRW I would be in that latter group of 'the sport is the thing' SOB democrats.

I'm one of those who wants to feel like I'm in control, and when I play right, I am in control. Good decisions, a few serious gambles, and in the top 20% usually leave me feeling successful and satisfied. Along with those things, the mental stimulation of incorporating all I have learned, with the things I am purposely exploring, in a non combative setting like the poker table is and wow, just playing makes for a satisfying session.

BIG caveat here; Last contest I played, I won. Opinion subject to revision upon entry into any moderate or severe downward streak.

Leaving the table with more than I started with and also feeling that I didn't make any real donk moves. Being disciplined and not letting emotions get the best of me are two things I work on in every session...

Any 24 hour period in which I don't sit at a ring game I consider to be a + Slansky $ session.

Kinda like a slansky date, you didn't score, but you think you made a favorable impression, you know you didn't catch anything & you had to eat anyway.
