| Ring Games vs. Tournaments Hi all, This is a question which I bet a lot of people ask but... Which is more profitable for the long term poker player Ring Games or Tournaments/SnG's? I look at the two and I feel that tournaments are the better option especially in NLHE, the reason why I think this is because in a sng, if you win, you can cash out 5 x your buy-in (10 handed), but in a cash game this is very rare to cash out with 5x what you bought in for. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. BTW I dont just want a simple vote, I would like detailed responces for your choice. | it depends. at low stakes, SNG players are so terrible on average that it's possible they are more profitable than the rings. at high stakes, SNGs are not complex enough to master to leave a lot of skill difference between players, and rake does not go down in % as much as it does in cash games. And since profit comes from a skill edge that is big enough to beat the rake, it's very clear that rings become a hell of a lot more profitable than SNGs |
