Rest assured, you're a favorite
My way of adding humor to some bad beats/luck.
There's no such thing as a lucky hand. Just because you have two connecting cards to a straight doesnt mean you have a good chance at winning... unless you are up against my pocket Aces. AK isn't the nuts unless you are of course up against my pocket Queens Just because I flopped a set of 8s against your KK doesnt mean you had bad luck. There's no such thing as luck in poker so don't worry. Your king will come on the river. Best hand always wins. I've got you in big trouble with set over set and you only have one out for quads. Don't worry. It's still a 50/50 coin flip. Blinds are high you raise and I reraise all in and you call. I show my AK you show your KJ. Never fear! There's a very good chance that the flop will come QT9. I raise and you push. You show pocket tens and I have pocket aces. I flop a set of aces and you need to runners to make a straight. So don't worry you still have a chance. Feel free to expand! |

If by "you", you mean me?!?
Um, I only see one problem with your scenarios....I NEVER SUCKOUT. Well, at least it seems that way.
Just for fun, I decided to play one day where I chased every flush when I flopped a draw. I was tired of seeing others suckout a flush on me...so I thought I'd give it a try. I believe I hit one out of a dozen (I only counted hands where I was confident I was beat). A couple days ago I counted five hands in one day where I was beat by a 3-outer when we were both allin on the flop. I only won one of the hands in the same situation that day. So, if by "you", you mean me? Nah, I ain't gonna hit my suckout fer nuttin'. But I can relate to how you feel. ![]() |

I believe!!!
Had AKc last night - hit Q J 10 on the flop (w/ 2 hearts). I bet 1.60 in a .05/.10 cent game. MOst were folding to those bets. Had 2 callers. River comes a 3s and I bet 3.00. Again, both called. River - HEART!!! I check, another check, and an all-in. I'm thinking 3 things - either A) he has AK and we are chopping B) he has 8/9 and thinks his is best putting us on draws since we checked the river or C) he is trying to buy it. I didn't think D) he hit his flush. I just couldn't fathom that someone bet those bets on a flush draw. Sure enough - he has 7/5 hearts (not even the nut flush). So I lose my entire stack at the table. Not happy. |
