Do you guys ever try this?

Happened in an SNG today. Six left, I was doing well, but lost about half of my stack when someone called with bad odds and sucked out a 4-outer.

Next hand I'm UTG and look down at KK. I pushed, instantly and got two people calling with marginal holdings. I took down the pot. Now, had I not been beat badly on the previous hand, I don't think:

A)I would have pushed.
B)They would have called.

If you guys get a monster right after a nasty beat, do you play it faster than you would otherwise, on the assumption that people will think you're steaming?

yep!!!! I love when this happens!! I'm so pissed after a beat and the next thing I know I got great cards! I saw this over the weekend and it was hilarious. This guy had a terrible beat, I don't really remember the details but I remember saying to myself "man that sucks!" lol Anyway the very next hand he pushes all in, I'm thinking that he is just done with the tourney and wants to give his chips away. He gets called and he turns over AA and ends up with more chips than he had before the bad beat!

Yea this happens all the time.. Phil Hellmuth comes to mind when you mentioned this.. He always goes "god that is so sick i set it up perfectly i knew you thought i was on tilt" etc.. Yea thats good poker, taking advantage of the situation..

It's so awesome. perfect timing for a good hand. especially in casinos, cuz you can put the whole facial and bodyily expressions into it lol

I think many players use this technique.
Including myself.

I almost always avoid calling someone after they have had a bad beat.

Lesson:
Avoid calling someone after a bad beat.
