RedRock Casino lowers rake
On July 1st, 2007, The RedRock Casino in Las Vegas became the first Poker Room in Las Vegas to raise their rake to a maximum of $5.00. This is a Stations Casino and can be classified as a local casino on the far west side of the city. Within a week or two they saw a loss in revenue that probably amounted to six to eight games per day. Although the Poker Room Manager, Mike Dole was dead set against the rake increase, upper management felt that it was a good move since the 22 table room was practically running at 90% capacity on a daily basis. Five weeks later, they finally realized the error of their ways and dropped the rake back down hoping to regain their lost business revenue. The room is comfortable and better than most in Las Vegas. Whether they get their lost trade back or not is still uncertain. Mike Dole is a good manager and knew that the increase would be detrimental to his business levels.
