rebuys

i tried rebuy tourney twice. i ran into the all-in gang. i guess they were playing the lotto....i noticed some people added on right away and everyone added chips after the break. i guess the bottom line is don't get into a rebuy unless you plan on spending at least 3 times the entry fee

ya i dont play them alot but when u enter a rebuy i read in a book have enough BR to cover initial cost 2 rebuys and an Add on. Or as many as u want to rebuy. Alot of people addon at the beginning so they have potential to win more chips.

read eric lindgren's book, it has a section for rebuys. if you have the bankroll it is worth it to continue rebuying, based your going for the W. And yes it is all in early on he mentions, and gives strategys for playing rebuys early and building a stack. I think it's a good read. Mentioned one of his friends one a big rebuy, and in the end he was the guy who rebought the most. Considering he won it was well worth the investment.

Contray to alot of poker texts/articles etc, I try not to rebuy and addon if possible.

I played in a MTT tournament at the casino the other week, £10 rebuys. I did not rebuy or addon, and was unlucky to come 3rd (AKs vs KQos PF).

I found in said tournament, I played extremely tight (in the first hour) and waited til I had a monster. When I did I would get paid off with a double or triple up from the people intending to rebuy.

I know this strategy isn't advised, but it worked nicely for me.

Besides the fact that you don't rebuy or add-on at all Gavinski, I play similar to that manner. I've had much recent success at the $10R at 10:30AM ET on Full Tilt. I've placed in two, taking second in one of them. I played pretty much similar in all of them. I don't add-on immediatly, I just start with my 1500 chips.. I sit very patiently, waiting for monsters or looking to bust someone with suited connectors. I am definitly not afraid to all my chips in, but I know I have the winning hand when I do. People play extremely loose in the beginning where I seem like a rock, so when the blinds get somewhat big.. I make a raise in position and they are folding to me no problem.

I usually am sitting at around 3-4K at break and add-on to make it 5-6K. That is about average stack then. This is when my tournament game really kicks in and I take advantage of all these rebuyers with a BR, but not much skill. I play my normal game, still being cautious, but showing winning hands. I like to make the raise when I come into a pot, not call a raise.

I should be playing $10R and $5 MTT today on FT at 10:30AM again if you want to rail and see how I do.
