This is really the worst beat ever

I've been playing for a long time so I have had a ton of two outers snapped on me, but this was ridiculus.
It is late in a mulit tournament that started with 660 players. Thinks there were about 28 left in it. BB is 3000. Every one folds to me in the sb. I hold Ac5h so I decide to pressure the BB and raise to 10000. Without hesitating he calls. Flop: AK8 all spades. I decide the only way the guy can call is with a spade so I push in 30000. Without hesitating he calls me down with a 8-7 of hearts..... and spikes an eight on the river. Now if you can beat that nonsense let me know.

It is a bad beat, but not even close to the worst I've seen. Yesterday caught a gutshut straight flush on the river to beat to beat my opponents quads. That's a really bad beat!

worst beats

I'm not talking about the worst beat considering the odds, but the play.
a) you a 7000 raise in a bb of 3,000
b) you call with 87 suited hearts
c) The flop is AK8 spades all spades
d) the raiser who has bascally represented an ace or better pushes in enough to put you out of the tourny(which you have played for 4 hours)
e) You have bottom pair no spade the only thing you can beat is garbage
f) You have at best 4 outs

How many people that read this would even start to consider making this call?

must have thought ye were bluffin....how did you manage to bet that amount when you had quite a low secondary card and a good chance that he might have a coupla spades or an ace with a higher kicker?...if there was ten players left on the table and i had an ace five off suit...with only 28 players left and eighteen from final table...i woulda folded that baby...then again...it might be a friday night and im on my 7th or eighth vodka coke

seriously will one of you poker strategists give this man an decent answer to his question and whether he should have played it or not?

That does not qualify as a bad beat. Bad luck, but that's it. To qualify as a bad beat, you must lose a high full house or 4 of a kind to a (higher) 4 of a kind or a royal flush. Losing a lot of money doesn't make it a bad beat.

If you are looking for a bad beat, I have a great example. I was playing a MTT a few months ago and we were late in the tourney, about 3 tables left. I was in the BB with KK and UTG goes all-in. I call and the cards were flipped. He had pocket 4s. The flop comes A-4-4. WOW He flopped 4 of a kind!! Thr turn comes - K. Cool, but I'll never get another K. The river comes - K!!!! I had to turn the observer chat off because the guy wouldn't shut up about how he was screwed and that would never happen. The way I see it, justice was served because KK should almost always beat 44. lol

Let me reitterate

I really think any hand where you go in as an overwhelming favorite such as 87% or better and get beat by a lucky draw is a bad beat. What I'm trying to stress is the play that was made against me, and if there is a snowballs chance in H*** that I may run into someone that is stupid/bold enough to make that play. I know for a fact in that same situation for 23000-30000 i toss that crap.

Dude, he had a pair, and he could have hit a flush with running hearts on fourth, fifth, and sixth street!

p.s. this happened 5 minutes ago. Stars is sooo rigged!

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

UTG (t1910)
MP (t1450)
CO (t2355)
Button (t3620)
SB (t1815)
Hero (t2350)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 3h, Jh.
UTG calls t50, MP raises to t150, 2 folds, SB raises to t950, 1 fold, UTG folds, MP raises to t1450, SB calls t500.

Flop: (t3000) 8h, Js, 9d (2 players)

Turn: (t3000) Kc (2 players)

River: (t3000) Kh (2 players)

Final Pot: t3000

Results below:
MP has As Ad (two pair, aces and kings).
SB has Kd Ah (three of a kind, kings).
Outcome: SB wins t3000.

jromeo - you have to excuse the smart-asses here on cc!
if they find any hint of something to make fun of in a thread, they will.
as for that being a bad beat, it was really nothing close to the worst in terms of odds...but in terms of play, yes he obviously made a terrible call. My thoughts are that he got some kind of read and put you on a complete bluff....but even so making an all in call here is ridiculous

It's a frustrating suckout, but nowhere near the worst beat beter. Try watching the reruns of the WPT final tables. On one of them there's a runner-runner draw which happens at the final table - so a 2-outer hit on the turn and 1-outer on the river, odds only a small fraction of a percent of hitting. Unbelievable.
