Real poker training - is it any good?

I have been looking to get a membership onto a poker training site, I like RPT, but I have been unable to many comments on its usefulness and the few comments have been negative.

I have also considered royalflushclub, which has brett "gank", but it seems to be mostly geared towards beginner/ intermediate crowd.

I would like advanced videos on especially 6-max tournaments as well as full ring ones. In addition some videos on micro/low limit cash games would be good for me to finally get out of being a marginally loosing player.

I think the other option would be to get 15months of stoxpoker and get a Poker Tracker licence with that, but that is a bit more than I was thinking of spending.

Any other ideas? What have you tried?

I found books written by proven pros to have been my best learning tool. But selecting the right one's to read is important. Check this list compiled by aliengenius

I also think some books could be dangerous for your game. I just finished reading Gus Hansen's "Every Hand Revealed" After recording most of his hands in the Aussie tournament which he did win, he put it into print and discusses his thought process. Was very interesting, and his style may be good to use at times. Although his math reasoning was clever, table reads along with allot of luck also came into play often.

Know some people that went to some poker camps with pros, which was costly and same information found in good books. Check that link out. AG pretty clever guy here.

I hate to encourage buying a subscription to another site, but I'm a member of stoxpoker and it's well worth the money. It's easily been the biggest change for my game ever. Books are great, but a lot of them don't deal with the tendencies of online players - training sites almost exclusively have professional online players do their videos. Anyways, I'd definitely recommend a training site if you can afford it and are serious about making money.

I've been thinking about asking Nick about doing some partnership with them or something, but I just don't see that working saying as how we're basically competing forums.

I've checked out stox and I think the videos aren't for me ... it seems most of the analysis is for 6-max ring games or super high stakes ($100+) SNG types, where the games are drastically different than what I see at my levels.

Maybe the forums are nice there, but CardsChat is great and FREE.

Check out PokerX Factor. They have free info and videos on their site. Its helped my game a lot. The writers and teachers there are some of the best. The subscription can be expensive but it is worth it.

I have looked at these sites and they seem really good but dont seem to offer much for the micro stakes limit holdem player.

Can anyone suggest one that might be more suited to me?

I have watched a few videos a Leggo and was impressed. I am also a micro player 25 & 50NL so most of the vids were above that but plenty of useful concepts to incorporate into your game.

Cardrunners was good as well. Updated often with new vids and have many pro providing vids.

I haven't spent any real time on Stox so I can't say much about them. I do know people who subscribe there and they say it's good.

I like the info I didn't even know there were training sites. I try playing play money but it seems there are too many people playing like it is play money and just a video game or something. They say after a bad play and hitting or even losing "its just play money. So, anyway thanks for the post

Hey guys, propokerschool.com just went free today, go check it out - its definately worth it.

Negreanu also opened up PokerVT recently. Until June 30th they're having a Grand Opening special, knocking $30 off the $149 sign-up fee, then it's $30/month. A bit more than stox, but not much. Anybody have any experience to report yet with VT?

we plan on titling our stuff more towards micro and lower limits going forward. I do think currently we have PLENTY of content for micro and low limit players but plan on putting out EVEN more in the future.

I can't imagine viewing cardschat.com as a competitor of ours at this point. We would love to explore partnership opportunities. anyone is welcome to PM me here or at stoxpoker.
