Real Money Is Approaching I play a lot of play money games, and freerolls. After about 3 months of playing im well over half way to 20 million in fake chips on Pokerstars I plan to wait until I get to 20 million, then sell 1 million, win it back and repeat.... Figure before long I will have enough to play some real money poker. Maybe... Then I can lose all of that.... hee hee

It takes a lot, LOT of hard time and dedication to build up 20 mil in play chips, I don't care what anyone says. It shows real perserverence and dedication to the game to do that. After having that much play chip time, I do reckon you can move on up to the real thing and as long as you apply the correct BR principles, etc you will be just fine and on your way to building yourself a nice BR. All in all I applaud you and wish you luck in your endeavors; may the cards be with you!

| Good plan. Nice to see you are practicing bankroll management even with play chips. I only have a little over a million so far, but your plan seems to be one that could be followed. Good luck and keep us posted. Oh, yeah. Welcome to Cardschat. Here is our next big forum event. Has a freeroll and everything! Sign up to represent Cardschat. | Different game I remember playing with play chips for about maybe a month before moving to money. TBH I couldn't stand winning play money while thinking this could be real!! does seem like a waste of time to go to such lengths. I am also confused as to why there is a market for play chips, please explain. But what I really wanted to say was that I found the jump from play to real to be quite a shock in terms of the play I encountered. They really are 2 different games and one does not prepare you for the other. I have stated before that if you are consistently going deep in free-rolls (say after 2nd break) then you are very close to the level of play that you will encounter at the $1-4 buy-in level. Use this more as a reference to your readiness than your play money empire building. And good luck and keep us posted. |

Reply to why people would buy play chips???? To me, I don't get it either. You can make a lot of money off play chips though. They start you off with 1000.00 (I believe) on Pokerstars, it takes along time to build up to play the big money tables, and not long at all to lose it all. I lost 100's of thousands before finally getting in a groove and winning consistantly. When I hit a million, I never looked back. I have given away about 2 million. I know some people will play up to 15.00 for 1 million play chips-but it can be as little as 6.00--depends who you go through... I would never buy them...but that is me

Maybe I am missing something but what do you get for play chips and why would anyone buy them. Maybe I'm missing out on some basic concept. Is there a reward for having X number of play chips like entry to a tourney or actual money or something?
