Reading old posts - Regulations for Online Poker

Not to eat a dead horse, but.....

The thread concerning sites juicing the hands to promote higher rakes never addresses the fact that these sites are regulated by various commissions and committees. I truly believe that most sites follow these rules an regulations. I think the focus should be more on the rules and regulations that may allow these sort of practices. I have tried to find details on the regulations but have not found much. Does anyone know where I may be able to find these regs?

Most poker sites are licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, who regulate their licensees. See here for more information.

I work for a regulated jurisdiction in Canada that offers internet gaming. We're one of only 2 regulated jurisdictions in North America that offer gambling on the internet.

The regulations we go through are excrutiating and in most cases they are the same regs followed by any site hosted in Gibralter such as Party Poker.

When determining if we meet regs (and if we're trying to make a case where we don't feel we should have to) I've spot checked some various sites and found they all comply with the regs they say that they do.

Now there's no way to know if they're juicing pots but with all the hand histories available publically, it would have been caught by now if they were.

I really think it's ridiculous to believe that the major sites (PP, PS, FT, Bodog etc.) are crooked in any way. They make far too much money without juicing pots to jeopardize.

Seems to me that it's the losing players that complain the most.

I agree with you 100% and think most on this forum would also, although I can't speak for them. They wouldn't want to jeopardize their business by doing something like this when there is so much competition out there for people to run to. The CEO's of these sites are smart and that would be one of the stupidest business decisions that they could make.

And as far as being a loser at poker online, sure I have lost plenty of tournaments. I have won far more money than I have lost. In fact, I have won enough to purchase my latest vehicle, a 2004 Chevy Silverado.

It's about the principle, not winning or losing. It seems to me that the gambling addicts seem to write everything off to luck instead of admitting to what they see. Like an alcoholic would tell you he drinks to relax or a smoker smokes to settle his nerves. The brain has a funny way of telling ourselves "it's okay" when we know deep down it's not.
