Razz, my own thoughts

Razz is a game that I never really liked the concept of (the worst hand wins), but I have to admit that Ive grown fond of razz. Played in a razz tourney tonight, did alright untill I got moved to another table. Lol, sucks to be hot at one table then get moved and get crushed. Life goes on.

Anyway, I couldnt find any razz strategy guides on here. Did I just not see it?

Lots of people here hate Razz. Really it's hoping you're playing other players who realize that their hands aren't necessarily good.

If there's a pot with good players there's rarely a showdown because hte upcards give away SOOO much.

Think about it, in 7stud you could have four 7's and still have 27KQ showing on your board. In razz, you can't really have a strong hand without it being pretty well advertised.

I love Razz. It makes you crazy but it can win you alot of money if you play it right.

There has been a lot of Razz threads lateley. Im thinking it could become the new "cadillac of poker" lol.

Also, (although I have not read it myself yet) I suggest you get "Sklansky on poker" and read the Razz section.
Just play tight, simple, wait for good staring hands and you'll have way the best of it at the low limits.

Razz to me...........annoyingggg. I cant stand getting A234 to start and wind up finishing with KK10 or something. Especially when people who have just horrific cards wind up beating yours. For example, once i had A234 at full tilt in a 2400 plyr freeroll. 29 players left! two away from the money. Blinds were very high and i had a descent stack of chips. I get A23 and this guy keeps raising as i raise. A 4 comes and he keeps raising me. Next card a 9 for me and i keep raising as he drew a Queen. In the end i finished with 9 high after drawing another 9 and a Jack. He finished with 7 high and beat me. I finished 29th place and i never played razz at FT again. Game is just silly, is wayyyy more luck than holdem and omaha.

Has there ever been, or will there ever be a CC Razz tourney?

Those bad beats are also in other games as well. Ive had my Q/J full house beat by quad 2222 on the river. But I will echo what Ted Forrest and Huck Seed say in Michael Craigs FULL TILT POKER STRATEGY GUIDE. Razz is one of the most purest forms of poker. Bad players dont win in Razz, Good players do. You just have to understand the nuance of the game. If youre chasing on 6th street youre in trouble. Dump it and wait for something better.

I love Razz, it's the easiest game to bluff at IMO. you can start with 34A, and then pair up twice with another 3 and 4, but if your opponent gets a 8 or a 9, they'll usually muck. I just hate it when you get a great Stud hand, earlier today I was constantly being checked while I started with KKQ, that I ended up with a Boat. Also I hate when I get rolled up Aces or Kings. Once I gor K's, 5's and 9's rolled up withing 5 hands.
