Raymers account hacked

copied off p5s/2+2, i find this funny someone could guess his password, i wonder what it was.

Quote:
Yes, my account was hacked. I had been playing earlier in the day, as I had VIP matches at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm. I then was playing the weekly TLB match against Shaun Deeb at 2pm. I did play all those matches, failing to cash in all the VIP matches, but managing to win in the TLB match, where I played heads-up limit 5-card draw for the first time ever. I have played some limit 5-card draw before, but not HU.

Anyway, I then went upstairs to watch my buddy Rocco Mediate on TV as he was trying to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational Golf Tournament (he finished 2nd to a super-hot Vijay Singh), and I then went to the driving range. While there I got phone calls from my Dad, my wife, and PokerStars security. So, I rushed home and dealt with things.

It appears that this ikeyrson bastard managed to guess my password after making multiple attempts. He then played like an idiot as you are all aware, blatantly dumping chips from my account to his account. Based upon dozens of emails sent to PokerStars security, they jumped in and froze his account. So, all of my money will be returned, and he gets nothing. PS isn't allowed to tell me this guy's real name (if it is his real name, whatever it is he used to create his relatively new account). If anybody out there finds out who it is, feel free to share his name. I'll be more than happy to try and make sure that every online and live poker room in the world bars him permanently.

So, in summary, account hacked, hacker caught and account frozen, all money safe, I really did go only 1-3 this morning/early afternoon in my VIP and TLB matches.

Thanks to all of you who helped me by alerting PS security.

Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

P.S. - lol hackerments

Hmm well lets start with 12345678 K that didn't work... Maybe 11223344... Nope.

I would guess someone close to Mr Raymer. Someone that had some info that might lead to a password. I highly doubt Mr Raymer would use something simple... He's too smart for that.

Glad to hear it worked out for the better

I use waterbumper for my password. You know... 2 words together that have no relation to each other.

My account should be safe and secure.....

They would contact you if you were one of their pros, who could ultimately put a serious black mark on your name. If YOU came here and said PS sucks, my acct got hacked and they did nothing, they might lose one or five members.....I'm relatively certain Raymer could get a few more than that to cancel.

wow he got a phone call, so that does mean they have phone support, but only for the few elite. what a joke. if the company has any real class about them, they would at least offer phone support to customers who do get thier account breached, common they are supposed to be one of the biggest but yet no phone support, bodog has phone support and so do alot of other sites that are not as big as pokerstars. This is a classic example of why pokerstars is joke, I went with bodog, thier phone support is best out there as far as USA players go.

I have no idea what half of these replies are about. Anyway.

I saw some of the hand histories from when his account was hacked, and it was beyond obvious what was going on. $1k SnG where Raymer would raise to 1480 in the first hand, and then fold on the flop. If you're going to steal someone's money, at least make it just a wee bit less obvious, heh.

I'm thinking that it was either a complete moron or someone that wanted it to be obvious. A good deal of hackers only do it to brag about it. You can get a lot of braging out of "I hacked into the WSOP Champions poker acct". I'm just curious of how much money he keeps in there.

I think he had "lost" $25k or so by the time they blocked his account. I'm sure he keeps a healthy bankroll on Stars.

And I'm leaning towards "moron." It would have to be a pretty rich hacker to willingly give up that kind of cash just to reserve bragging rights.

Uh. What? My "I have no idea what half of these replies are about" wasn't directed at your post, if that's what you're referring to.

I don't play there a lot, but my understanding is that PS support is excellent.

I believe you can actually e-mail them during the final table of a tournament and they will pause the play for any discussions of deals/chops. That's fast fast fast.

That being said, I think the only thing worth playing there are the deepstack tournaments.
