| Rag Play Yesterday I saw somebody comment "Nice Rag Play" after I knocked him out of the tourney with my king high flush. It was one of those private freerolls from another forum. This is the hand history POKERSTARS GAME #12083799174: TOURNAMENT #59750200, FREEROLL HOLD'EM NO LIMIT - LEVEL XVI (4000/8000) - 2007/09/16 - 00:27:41 (ET) Table '59750200 24' 9-max Seat #6 is the button Seat 1: BurnNServe3 (102505 in chips) Seat 2: CondorPMH (90489 in chips) Seat 3: Fermion5 (63966 in chips) Seat 4: tikiz07 (56066 in chips) Seat 5: mrcol (55845 in chips) Seat 6: ozikir (50832 in chips) Seat 7: alg2006 (284562 in chips) Seat 8: CMADISON25 (186261 in chips) Seat 9: talazan (77308 in chips) BurnNServe3: posts the ante 400 CondorPMH: posts the ante 400 Fermion5: posts the ante 400 tikiz07: posts the ante 400 mrcol: posts the ante 400 ozikir: posts the ante 400 alg2006: posts the ante 400 CMADISON25: posts the ante 400 talazan: posts the ante 400 alg2006: posts small blind 4000 CMADISON25: posts big blind 8000 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to alg2006 [7c 6c] talazan: folds BurnNServe3: folds CondorPMH: folds Fermion5: folds tikiz07: folds mrcol: folds ozikir: folds alg2006: calls 4000 CMADISON25: checks *** FLOP *** [4h 8c Kc] alg2006: checks CMADISON25: bets 8000 alg2006: calls 8000 *** TURN *** [4h 8c Kc] J♣ alg2006: checks CMADISON25: bets 8000 alg2006: raises 176000 to 184000 CMADISON25: calls 161861 and is all-in *** RIVER *** [4h 8c Kc Jc] 5♦ *** SHOW DOWN *** alg2006: shows [7c 6c] (a flush, King high) CMADISON25: shows [8h Jh] (two pair, Jacks and Eights) alg2006 collected 375322 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 375322 | Rake 0 Board [4h 8c Kc Jc 5d] Seat 1: BurnNServe3 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 2: CondorPMH folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 3: Fermion5 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 4: tikiz07 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 5: mrcol folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 6: ozikir (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 7: alg2006 (small blind) showed [7c 6c] and won (375322) with a flush, King high Seat 8: CMADISON25 (big blind) showed [8h Jh] and lost with two pair, Jacks and Eights Seat 9: talazan folded before Flop (didn't bet) I'm not sure he meant this as a compliment. I think he din't like my check-raise after the turn. Any one heard that expression before? BTW I placed 3rd in that tourney. It took a lot of patience and a bit of luck at critical hands like this one. This was my best result so far on Poker Stars. |

1. Open limp from late position. 2. Just call the (although min.) flop bet. 3. Get lucky to hit the ONLY card that an opponent will call a shove with. I don't think "superior play" is really appropriate here, even if the villain did technically play "worse" than the hero. |
