Wow, so young. Even happier that he won his HORSE title now and got the recognition he deserved as a top player while he was alive. The guy did live it up a bit when he was younger though.

Oh man! Most of the tournament pro's thought he was the best cash player in the world but never realy got the recognition he deserved. What a shame. More people know who Jamie F'king Gold is then him.

Wow. He will truly be missed. He is the only poker pro I've ever seen in person. He played a table next to me in march of '06 at the card room at the Las Vegas Hilton. I remember being quite awestruck that a player of that calibre was just a few feet from me.

RIP Reese!

Actually thought this was a joke when I read the post title because Chip was really in the prime of his life in many ways. Sad news indeed.

He is my favourite player of all time, and I'm really sad I never got to meet the guy. I had always dreamed to go to Vegas and shake his hand at Bobby's Room. His story of leaving college, rolling up his stake and heading to Vegas is probably what all of us young poker players dream of.

Chip Reese remains one of the greatest poker minds to walk this planet, he is the ultimate poker player, a gentlemen, and I send out my prayers to his family and friends.

Very very tragic. He was so young and I heard nothing of an illness. Must have been a heart attack or a brain anerism (sp?). He will go down in history as 1 of the all time greats. RIP

I can't believe this, he was 56. Doyle Brunson called him the best 7 card stud player he had ever seen.

I'm still in shock - he was so young and still in his prime. The ultimate Vegas legend who will live on through his death

The loss of Chip kind of reminds me of when Payne Stewart the golfer passed away. A legendary player who had a couple of titles under his belt, and loved by millions.

Poker has lost a great player and champion. Very sad.

Yeah but the people who know what they're talking about know who Chip Reese is and know that Jamie Gold is so far under his league that they were not even playing the same game. R.I.P Chip the poker world knows how how talented you were.

R.I.P. Indeed
He seemed to be one of the true class acts of the game as well as one of the best.

Too bad winning the HORSE Championship ended up being his crowning achievement, I was looking forward to a few more.
