Question Regarding Kickers in a game

Hi there,

It's my first time posting here and when I saw how busy it was I thought I could get a quick response through this site.

Here's my question. How do kickers work in hands in deciding who wins the hand.

I'll throw up a couple examples and tell me if it's a split or if one person beats the other because I'm confused on this point:

Table: K A J 3 J

Player1: K 4
Player2: K 5

Does the Player 2 win because his 5 beats the other player's 4? Or is it tie?

Table: K A J 3 J

Player1: K Q
Player2: K 9

???

And finally how about this situation with a flush?

Table Ah 10h 5h 7h Kh

Player1: 10c 9h
Player2: 10d 5d

What happens here?

Thanks for clearing this up,

We're playing games right now and we have this discussion going on...

In hold'em you are making your best 5 card hand.

These are both split pots, because the A becomes both players kicker. (KKJJA is their hand.)

Player 1 wins the pot ( 9♥ plays). ( A♥ K♥ 10♥ 9♥ 7♥ is the winning hand.)

Tie, Tie, Player 1 wins

the best hands used by both players are
1) KKAJJ
2) KKAJJ
3) 57TKA-h VS 79TKAh, so the higher flush wins it for player one

edit- (dang, juicee beat me)

first hand is a tie, both players have KKJJA

second hand is the same thing KKJJA is the best hand both can make

Table Ah 10h 5h 7h Kh

Player1: 10c 9h
Player2: 10d 5d

with the flush player 1 has a flush A,K,10,9,7
player two playes the board flush A,K,10,7,5
so player 1 wins.

hope that answers your questions

Well thanks all... One last one then so I understand the flush issue completely:

Table: Ah Qh 5h 3h 2h

Player1: Kh 9s
Player2: Jh 7h

Now player one has: Ah Kh Qh 5h 3h
Player 2 has: Ah Qh Jh 7h 5h

Does 1 win cause the highest different card is the K? Even though player 2 had 2 hearts in his hand that made up his hand?

Playing on the computer makes it a lot easier then real life situations at home playing for fun LOL

Thanks

The best 5 card hand wins, irrelevant of how many hole cards are used in making that hand, so the AK high flush beats the AQ high flush in your example.
