Queens favourite over Kings

This is a response to a hand posted somewhere on another thread. The hand posted was kings vs queens vs q,j vs a,6

The flop was a,t,5. Now as far as i see it, the pock kings need runner runner to win while the pock queens only need to hit a queen. So therfore the queens is more of a favourite over the kings to win hte pot. Is this the only situation ever in all of poker where 1 hand (the kings) has a 85% to beat the another hand (queens) after flop, yet has less chance of winning the pot. Its hard to get your head around

I THINK I GET IT!!!!

It is because the K would give the QJ hand a straight, so you would need two kings, while the QQ would only need one more Q to make a straight.

This is definately not the only situation where this could happen though.

Take AK vs KK vs QQ for example and a flop of A 9 7.

Same number of outs, for different reasons with different cards.

I could be completely off what you were trying to express though...

The Kings dont need runner to win. They're in the lead and there are only 2 kings left in the deck. Even if a King came on the turn, it still has 10 outs to hit on the river.

I dont see how QQ or QJ is a favorite to win this pot. QQ has to hit one of the remaining Queens and QJ has to hit one of the remaining Kings. Its not going to happen very often.

If a K hit on the turn, it would have 10 outs to win, not just the remaning K.

Also, how does hitting a Q on an A, 10, 5, [K] board (when you are holding QQ) make a straight?

the kings do need runner runner, as the ace is winning at the moment, and a king wont help the pock kings straight away as it would give q,j a straight. Therfore it needs runner runner fh or runner runner straight. While the queens can hit urnner runner straight or the remaining queen.

Does anyone know a good system to enter this into and find out what percentage each hand is to win?

You know what? I reread your original post nearly 10 times trying to make sense out what you were saying and I dont even remember seeing the A6 until you mentioned it.

So, i apologize, my bad.

I was reading it as KK vs QQ vs QJ

...odd.

After the turn, if its a K, KK has about a 20% to hit by the river.

Sorry to tell you this, but the A6 has the best chance of winning, lol.

QQ ~ KK ~ JQ all have a very similar chance of winning. The King needing 1 of 2 kings + a pair on the board, the QQ needs the last Q in the deck, the JQ needs 1 of 2 kings on the board.

Now, the JQ does have a better chance than both KK and QQ. JQ has 2 outs, any king. The KK needs a K + a board pair, the QQ needs the last Q, 1 out.

So here is how it goes:

A6 > JQ > QQ and KK

Chance to win after flop (using pokerstove):
A6: 83.415%
KK: 2.439%
QQ: 4.27% (.37% tie)
QJ: 9.15% (.37% tie)

If another K hits the board:
A6: 0%
KK: 22.5%
QQ: 0% (3.75% tie)
JQ: 70% (3.75% tie)

yes but everyone already knew what you posted before you posted it since it was obvious, we were just interested in the percentages.

It's called counterfeited outs. That QJ shouldn't even have been in the hand to begin with. Someone didn't raise/reraise enough preflop or maybe the person was feeling really lucky. Otherwise, the QJ would not be in the hand, and it would not be counterfeiting the Kings outs.

To address your awkward question. It happens plenty of times in multiway pots, but raising enough preflop should usually take care of this problem.
