Probably a simple question but.............

Hey, I play on Pokerstars and I've been pondering something on their site for some time. So I thought I would ask you guys see if you know. Whilst playing in MTT or SnG if two or more players are all in and no one else is left in the pot the players hole cards are revealed for the rest of the table before the rest of the community cards are dealt. However in cash games if two players went in on the flop and no one else was in the pot it only shows the cards after the river. Theres probably a simple and logical answer but it is beyond me. Any thoughts? Joe.

it is also happening on fulltilt . when 2 or more all in have not seen pkt cards till after rvr.

It has bugged me for a while, I really cant see why they dont show. I mean there is no more betting left so why not just show. Its only on cash games on Stars though. Im sure someone knows why.

Well, in a tourney if you lose, you're done. However, in a cash game, a lot of the time people will bring more money to the table, so they don't show for the sake of not giving players free info, since the player who was all in might still be playing there.

I agree, it makes no sense to me either. Given that the cards are eventually going to be shown, why wait until the river to reveal them?

Its the rules of poker. In a cash game you have the option to muck your losing hand even if you were all in.

In a tournament, players are required to show cards when all-in to prevent chip dumping.

These guys are right. In a cash game you have the option to muck your cards where as in a tourney you don't. Simple as that. That's why the software is set up to show automatically in a tourney.

I didn't know that was a rule in tournaments, but it does make sense now that you explained why thanks for the info
