private tournaments

Hello everyone,

I am pretty much new to the online poker, and I am interested in setting up a private tournament, I think that would be a great idea, just invite some friend, family members, etc.

Well, what i would like to know from you guys is what are you feelings on private tournaments, is it really fun, do you feel it is exiting, the same as playing in a table with friends???

Where did you guys go to play in private? How did you set it up, was it really complicated?

Please let me know your thought on this subject.

Thanks in advance for everyones thoughts on this.

Welcome to Cardschat.

Private tournaments are fun; we have them often here with passwords available to eligible peoples.

But most sites require a certain status in order to allow you to set up tournaments; like a certain number of hands, or an affiliate status, or something of that nature. If you're new to online poker, I don't know of any sites that will allow someone to just set up a private tourney just because you ask for it.

Someone with better info might clarify/correct me on this.

Email your site, tell them the table size, blind structure, time and dates. If they allow you a private tournament, they will send you a password for your table, for you and your friends.

I see you play at pokerstars, so your best bet would be to email thier support and ask if you can set up private tournies, the worst than can happen is they say no.

I've tried this. They'll (probably) tell you no if you have less than 2000 (lifetime) points. Then they'll tell you how many (lifetime) points you've earned and basically tell you to come back when you've hit 2000.

if a friend or family member has a more established account they can email support and set up a tournament as easily as you can.

I emailed a few poker sites, I am just waiting for their responses.
Hopefully I will be able to play in one of the sites. Just so me and a couple of friends can enjoy ourselves again, like old times.

I moved to a different state and don't know anyone here yet to play with. That's why I came up with the idea of maybe playing online, but I didn't know it would be this complicated to set up a table.

Also, what are the differences between poker sites? What poker tilt offers that pokerstart doesn't?

Thanks again guys and I will let everyone know how things go.
