My hourly wage goal is 100 dollar an hour

i've been paying full tilt to allow me to play for quite awhile now, so getting back to 0 would be my goal ATM.

Playing .50/1 NL my goal is 60$ / Hr and I usually meet the goal

Just two, I am still learning to multi table more than this, but as for now Any time I have 3-4 tables open I tend to focus on two of them, and forget about the others making stupid mistakes and losing the buyin

Usually 6max games, I just look for a table that has Middle Avg. Pot and go from there

Sorry, but this is nowhere even close to sustainable. Let's assume 80 hands/table-hour which puts you at 160 hands/hour. So your goal is 60/160 = $0.375/hand or $37.5/100 hands. You have to run at 18.75 PTBB/100 to meet this goal. To put that in perspective a PTBB/100 of 5 would be amazing and one of 3 would be very good.

My GOAL is $50/hour, but that is more long-term. My more realistic short-term goal is $30/hour when I get back to 50nl 12-tabling.

I guess I have outstanding luck then...

How many hours have you played? Either you've played an extremely small sample size (less than 5 hours) or else you have absolutely amazing luck or you are the god of poker and should be playing $25/$50 rather than 50c/$1.

I usually play around 3-6 hours a day after work, and I am no god of poker.. I have played 2/4 blinds but after losing 30% of my bankroll I stopped and went back to smaller blinds..

Edit - and normally I do find myself averaging 50-60$ an hour , sometimes close to 100 if I catch a good string of cards, not to mention at these stakes you find people making stupid calls with nothing trying to get lucky...

ok let's say you do 4 hours a day after work. I went semi low-end because you probably don't play every day. So even if you don't play at all on the weekend (which is doubtful) you would make an additional 60*4*5*50 ($/hour*hour*days/week*weeks) = 60k. Do you honestly make an extra 60k/year on top of your job? Why do you even have a regular job if you can make this much off of poker?

My goal is to win period. I get distracted if I think about how much I want to win every hour, 'll be happy just to win, and hopefully at the end of the day it'll be a good amount.

My guess (just a guess, I don't actually know you) is that your good winning sessions you do make about that. But when you have a losing session, it hurts you double. Not only did you spend time making less, but you spent time going backwards. So say you averaged $100/hour (theoretical) but every 3rd hour lost $100 instead of winning $100. The majority of the time you win $100/hour but that one our of losing $100 puts your win-rate at 100/3 = $33.33/hour. Having one losing session in 3 cuts your winrate by 2/3. So the majority of your good sessions you may average that but as mentioned, losing sessions kill your winrate, and everyone has their losing sessions.

I don't really have an hourly goal...my primary goals are to make correct decisions and have fun. Hmmm, but I am only tracking my profit/loss..interesting. I'm going to have to think about this some more...

Why are you looking for a cheap car if you are making that playing poker?

Thats twice my wage and I make 70K a year at my job.

And here I thought my 12ptbb/100 at $50NL was good.

Seems everyone and their dog makes over 100K.

Without pointing the finger at anyone, I bet at least half of these are overstated by 20% or more, and a few are just outright lies.

If I could get rolled for a higher level razz, like 10/20, and maintain a 1.5 BB/hour winrate, that'd be sweeeeeet. That'd be $30.

lol well if you take into account what I last mentioned, that if you just make an estimate you probably estimate what you usually win in a winning session over how long it was, plus the fact that people will disregard downswings but since obviously them running good was pure skill forget that. Now I'm just as guilty of that, this is how the human mind works. I still remember when I was making $60/hour for my first 5 hours. Since then I would have been happy with a $0/hour winrate (well not really, but if I could go back in time while still remembering this horrid downswing ). Now my winrate since then is under $10/hour. Here's your process for determining your winrate.

1. Make sure you have pokertracker
2. Log 20k-50k+ hands starting now (because otherwise you may have bias. If you're on a hot streak you'll pick a week ago but if you're on a downswing you'll start now)
3. Take a look at something that's pretty close to your true winrate on PT

$15/hr at 25nl, $39/hr at 50nl and $14/hr at 100nl (downswing + changed game for the worse) and looking to improve.

I ran really well at 50nl but I think $40 is easily attainable and with the added tables I'll have with the new monitor I'm shooting for $50/hr. **** a day job

Yessir, those #s are from 8-tabling, though I'm now 12 tabling successfully on my current monitor with tons of overlap. I think I can make it to 16 or more with the new 24" added to the setup.

heh, all you have to do is quit your job and play 25 hours a day like I do! Poker is EZ when you don't have any other responsibilities

Ah the mind of a poker player. We tend to remember how mush we win ($$ wise), and how bad we lose (card wise). I meet the two in the middle somewhere. I used to always pay for "lessons" [aka: I sucked]. Right now I'm doing better at holding steady. Hopefully soon I will look at a win rate. And finally would be an hourly rate. One step at a time.
