Poor Sports (sick of them) Is it just me or is any1 else sick of all the poor sports out there. They win a hand and start talkin to you all cool and shit NH,GG,....Etc. But as soon as they lose a hand/chips they just start acting like a dumb ass noob. I hope you die, u gonna get hit by a car, ur mom, ur mom, ur mom this and that....Etc. They really need to stop acting like a bunch of poor sports and take the lose like a pro. And learn from it not be all dumb about it. It is just getting sickning seeing it everytime some1 gets knockout.

Agreed I just won a tourney where I started heads-up down three to one with the last guy. I slowly came back (no all-ins) and finally took chip lead. I get J-8 suited he raises me, I call and the flop is rainbow 9-7-5. He bets small and I call. Turn is 10 and he goes all in. I, of course, call with my staight and he shows 9-10... two pair. River is a 3. I win. He says "GG Donkey". Seriously?!? Learn how to take a loss. People just have no class.

I had suited gapped connectors and called a raise and flopped a pair,a flush draw and an open ended str8 draw, called opponents flop bet, hit my flush on the turn then called his all in BS bet. then at the end of the hand had to listen to him whine how I was chasing my flush...WHAT. With that many outs ...of course i'm gonna see the turn. I can understand someone being upset if I rivered them, but what am I supposed to do fold to your all in when I hit my flush. Immature people make me chuckle |

re: Poor Sports (sick of them) poker Look, every one at one time or another has very high opinion of themself. They just do not no any better. When it comes to poker their ego is really inflated. They win a couple of hands buy playing what they think is great, and then the bottom falls out and they can not understand why. Ask youself how many times have you seen a early chip leader not make the money because he started playing to many stupid hands hoping to hit lighting twice.

It's not just poker. We have become an angry society. Finances, love lives, problems, kids, noise, jobs in question, drugs, alcohol, etc. Sure doesn't make it right, but the internet is one of the few 'anonymous' places to vent anger and stupidity. Doing it in a public place is likely to get your clock cleaned - or shot fulla holes. Unless I'm in a forum game, I generally don't chat. Seldom even look at the box. Keeps me from even being tempted to comment on the stupidity. Keeps my chat from getting banned, too ...

I have seen myself screaming at the screen "NOOOOOOOOO" when someone Busts my pocket Aces after calling an enormous preflop bet and an outrageoust post flop bet going all in with a gut shot straight draw (58) and hitting it on the river. I realize that "This Is Poker" and bad beats are out there. I have to contain myself and realize that this is an "anomily", and it doesnt happen very often and in the long run... I will succeed. And YES... I have seen this

I don't get sick of the poor loser, I actually get a kick out of them. I had someone call me a typical loser last night for slow playing pocket aces, I raised they reraised pf so i just started checking and letting them do the betting. Was pretty funny when they said that and just figured I would wait and bust them out again. Unfortunately I was moved shortly after. But I watch those ppl and take it as a sign of tilt and try to use it to my advantage.

have you never been burned by a lucky donk... i consider myself to be a super nice guy .. but when money is involved and you lose...its a natural response to get angry... most people have learned to contain themselves...especially if in live situations... but online..? i have to admit i have been a poor sport at times..who has not? to me a poor sport is when the winner berates the loser not when the loser vents..

It is much easier for people to say whatever they want at the poker tables in online poker. First they see top pros like Helmuth do it and get away from it. Second unless you are playing on PS and can call the chat moderator, pretty much they can get away with it. If you are playing at FTP and have a problem you have to send an email about it, so once again people seem to gt away with it. I try to ignore people that act as such, in the worst cases I just mute them.

re: Poor Sports (sick of them) poker Yes I get tired of the guy or girl who think they are pros because they go all in the first couple hands and have a stack of chips. Then you get in and slow play em and take half thier chips and they go off on ya I just turn the other cheek and move on

I had a guy yesterday in a MTT that I knocked out. I thought it was funny at first because we were down to about 50 players and he was short stack at table. He raised 3X bb and I called with A jack suited. Flop was 10 jack jack. He went all in and of course I called. He showed a pair of nines and called me a donkey after he lost. What got me was he hung around and badmouthed me and a couple of others for a good 20 minutes. When you lose just move on to the next hand or game. If it will upset you that much to lose or you can't afford to lose then don't play. Poker is supposed to be fun too. Of course it is more fun when you win.

There is this clown I always play with at a local casino 1-2 game...nicest guy most of the time til he loses a big hand to you, then he keeps bitching about how he wants his 80$ back or whatever it is and raises to 15$ the next 5 hands...sure enough everyone knows he's tilting and is calling and before you know it all his money is gone.

I love to play poker, but the amount of anger that goes with it is making me feel that it just might not be worth the trouble. I lost my mother last year and whether or not they realize it every time they say some stupid about your mother this or your mother that, it brings up memories that are still too fresh to blow off as just coming from some jerk. I know alot of them are probably under-age kids that illegally play on the sites, but not all. I find women are less apt to do this, but some still do. I don't mind if someone gets angry when they have had a really bad beat, but lets try to make it about the other players play itself. I promise my mother had nothing to do with any of the stupid plays i'm sure I have made. I never have turned anyone in for anything that they have said, but I'm not sure that will be the case in the future. People can only take so much. Maybe we can remember why most of us play, that's to have fun,and not work yourself up to the point that you may have a stroke. Good Luck and Happy Holidys to all.

Chat by definition is a place to put your thoughts. If people are not very well prepared for bad situations, they are likely to switch to anger. The only thing we can do as people that are subject to good and bad chat is use the tools at hand. If there is mean spirited chat that is questionable, I say copy the chat and submit it to the site and let them handle it. If the site deems the chat to be beyond acceptable they will give the person a form of a timeout in the corner by muzzling their chat. This seems like the best way to deal with the childish antics of some. GL to you all and may your chats be clean......

re: Poor Sports (sick of them) poker The worst are the guys who get knocked out of a tourney then start abusing as an observer - not possible on many sites but happens often - and you can't bar their chat because they are no longer at the table !!!

I used to chat at online tables. There were even a few times when I degenerated into bad-mouthing and name-callig after a tough beat. And I discovered something: it didn't help anything. Berating someone over their decision didn't change the fact that they had won the pot. It didn't make me any less upset either. I was spending too much of my time being angry, and it prevented me from regrouping and refocusing. My game definitely suffered from my actions. Now the only time I ever chat at an online table is if I'm in a small league tournament, say 20-30 players. Most people in those leagues are familiar with each other and their play, and you can talk nice even after something crazy happens. Otherwise, I treat the chat box like the plague. I may say a few choice words to myself after a tough beat or outdraw, but I don't take it out on other players. And I feel that I've become a happier, better player because of it.

I never respond to abuse. Was playing in a Poker Stars freeroll, top 100 to qualify for next round, and this idiot was being very aggressive with both his chatting and betting. I got a free look at the flop (from BB) with a suited 2s 5s. The flop was As 4h Js. My stack was about 8000 and his about 5000. He goes all-in (as he had done every two or three hands since I had been moved to the table) and I call. He was bluffing and had nothing. The turn did not help, but the river was a 3, completing my straight. Well did he sound off, and abused me until the game finished. He was also back, for about half an hour, abusing me in the weekly final four days later. I found it rather amusing that someone could get so worked up over a freeroll.
