Poll:Do you use percent or ratios when figuring out pot odds?

I prefer to use percentages, even though it takes a little more work convert from ratios. How about you guys?

Ratios are faster for me to do. I am slow enough as it is.

you should have actually put up a poll . Anyway i use percentages aswell since i know how to work out parcentages based on outs. While i dont know how to do it using odds. I have an A Level in maths aswell, so i can work out pot odds quickly using percentages

Yeah ratios ARE a lot faster, I think I'm gonna try using only ratios. The only reason I normally use % is it's easier to to get an idea of just how big of a favorite or underdog you are in a hand. I mean, if you know you're a 1.8:1 dog with two cards to come is great when you need to figure out the correct mathematical decision, but I have a clearer mental picture of where I'm at if I know I'm only about 35% to win

Ratios normally, % when in all-in situations. Remember, you should be calculating your odds one street at a time, so knowing that you are 35% on the flop to hit your flush doesn't really help you (that's the % with two cards to come). It's really a simple memorization:

outs-- ratio

1-- 46:1
2-- 23:1
3-- 15:1
4-- (gut shot) 11:1
5-- 8:1
6-- (over cards) 7:1
7-- 6:1
8-- (oesd) 5:1
9-- (flush draw) 4:1
10-- 3.7:1
11-- 3.3:1
12-- 3:1
13-- 2.6:1
14-- 2.4:1
15-- 2.1:1

If you were able to successully memorize your multiplication tables this should be no problem. Really, you could probably get buy with just to bold ones.

i use percentage somewhat, but i still needa do some reading to strengthen my overall poker knowledge, i have some, but not a whole lot

i think the question was for pot odds not hand improving odds , pot odds how much is in the pot vs what it will cost to see anouther card and then how about implied odds how many calling stations behind you etc. so if only cost 1 bet to win 11 i guess you are suppose to chase that gutshot?

Yes, if its 11:1 you should chase. Surely no one thinks, "huh, he just bet 8% of the pot and that's only x % of our stacks so I should call" in situations like that. I think the human brain is going to convert it to some kind of ratio (not %) automatically.
