Is POKERTRACKER worth $55?

I've been thinking about getting PokerTracker to see better stats from my game & use the info to improve upon, etc. I play at Ultimatebet, Stars, & Full Tilt, which are supported, and Titan, which is not. I'd say my play is half ring games & half SnG's, but I may start playing more MTT's.

I've bought software before (poker-related & other) that has turned out to be a bad deal and I've read posts where people have touched a bit on PokerTracker. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if PokerTracker is a good value for someone who's serious about poker like me? (I know FP uses it. Any others?)

Download it, use it, and if you dont like it don't pay for it - you get 1,000 hands free before you need to register and pay for it.

Since it has a free trial, what do you have to lose? I heard nothing but good things about it.

In conjunction with PAHud, Poker Tracker has won me a lot more than $55.

... and there's a free version of PAHud: GameTime+.

I'm very drunk. But this I believe is undisputable.

God, I'm drunk. Go ahead; tease me.

Yes it is absolutely worth it... Be prepared to think pokertracker speaks a foreign language though, because it takes some getting used to. The abbreviations the software uses are numerous and so are the statistics but after you get comfortable with it the software becomes an invaluable tool for improving your game.

How do you deal with syncronizing your results from 2 different computers?

Pokertracker uses Microsoft Access as the basis for the database. When keeping 2 databases all you have to is "import" the databases into each other. It is actually quite simple to do in the software. Just export the data to a file send it over to the other pc and import. This is assuming you are wondering how to import hand histories when the hand is only saved on the computer you played the hand from. Pretty simple to do though

I'm embarrassed to say that what I do now is save my hand history to a memory stick and actually "walk" the file to the desktop.

Well, I broke down and purchased PokerTracker yesterday after I did all I could do with 1000 histories. Looks like a great purchase already. I was able to put in about 7500 saved hand histories (that unfortunately leaves out Titan & Ultimatebet which offer no hard drive saves) and I've found out some interesting things about myself as a ring player:
  • I'm looser than I thought I was. Not sure if it is my own misconception or that I'm just adapting to the looser low-limit games.
  • I consider myself mostly a Limit HE ring player, but I see I've done better at NL games. Not sure if I have enough NL hands to make a fair comparison, though.
  • I love 6-player tables, but I do better at 9-10 max tables. I kinda figured this one would be true but I was in denial.
Not fond of having to manually enter a lot of SnG & tourney info, but I guess it's a must if I want to analyze my tournament game. Also, GameTime+ is pretty cool but I will have to get comfortable with the HUD that seems distracting but helpful.

Thanks to all who responded. I'll probably be asking some questions & opinions about settings in the future (like player rating rules, etc.), so get your thinking caps on! Thanks again!

Might be worth e-mailing their respective supports and asking for the histories - I did it with Stars when I first got Poker Tracker and they mailed me a link that I could d/l the histories from (mind you, it wasn't very many hands).
