Found this nice video to help understand PT3 Beta. It is prominent on the PT3 site, but is in a window we probably all avoid very often. It looks like an advertisement, but is just a link.

Beta 5 expected by tomorrow, Tuesday 2-26 (per Josh). Josh and Aperfect10 are busy today answering last minute questions. I expect to see B5 this evening west coast time.

I don't have a clue what I'm looking at but since I got it my game has improved!

yeah PT3 has really improved my game too. I've been sending crash logs to them, and they say that beta 5 should be a totally stable working version. Yay!

As promised, beta 5 just showed up.

Josh there is touting PT3 b5 can produce custom reports for almost anything short of the color of the cards. I am interested in producing a report that can finally answer the age old question;

am I card dead, or brain dead, or both.......

Beat 6 released. Very first impression is that it seems a bit faster. Still no HUD, next beta I've heard.

DS = ?

fyi there's another hud beta that works with pt3 from another guy here: PokerObserver.com

and of course _dave_'s ahk hud: PokerTracker • View topic - AHK HUD - Enjoy

It's very clean and nice but has a few serious problems with it. It's still in beta but it's the best we've got until the official hud beta

What is up with the filters in PT3 Beta 6? I can't get it to filter by date. Am I missing something?

After you have selected all of the filters you want you need to click the "Add Selected to Filters" button. Then it will move over to the right under selected filters, then you can click apply. I don't know why they did that it's kinda confusing.

Beta 7 released. No *(#&*($ing hud though

They say it'll be held off until the final release basically because they don't want to hear people say what works and what doesn't, which doesn't make much sense to me since that's what betas are for

No it's a smart move not to release the HUD before it's ready for a *public* beta ... there are two purposes behind a public beta:

1) Build a community of your software pre-release to get them hooked so they buy it on release

2) Get the minor bugs out of the way

And face it ... most of the poker community (make that the INTERNET) is just filled with winers and complainers who have the high school mentality of trying to look cool by making snide comments about anything and everything.

Look at Blizzard, the popular video game publisher - they will NOT release something until it's ready. They're the one company who has this mentality and it's no surprise they are the most profitable.

I am disappointed there is no built in HUD, but at least I can use the PT3 HUD and it works just fine with Full Tilt Poker. It's only two weeks

I'm not really too worried about the HUD right now because I can still just use the old one with PT2. I'm just kind of annoyed they haven't really been fixing any bugs in the tournament part of it and every time someone in the forums brings one up they just say "tournaments are kinda buggy now we'll work on it later". I can't even filter anything for tournaments right now, I really hope they fix it soon.

Tournament support is secondary at Poker Tracker since most of the users are ring players; most of the tourney features will be added last-minute, I think.

Beta numero 8 is now out, and of course that includes the hud.

I'm not sure how developed the hud is though, only about to try it myself.

When will the commercial version of PokerTracker be on sale?
PokerTracker 3 is tentatively scheduled for release by the end of April 2008.
Hud is looking really nice. It's still 'basic', but even at this stage it's very customizable and works very fast.

There are still some issues with it, ie:

Quote:
Notable things currently missing from the Hud:
  • 1. Popup stats.
    2. Import/Export functionality.
    3. Color ranges.
    4. Filters.
    5. Table list, active player lists/information in the tracker.
    6. Stats on the Replayer.
    7. Polish (transparency, translucency, some formatting options, etc.)
...but I'd be using this immediately if it were more stable (already one crash), and had the popup stats.

Nice, I am anxious to learn how to use HUD. Is it just me, or do they need to move the config button to the SIDE of the pot $ display?

Understandable really. Polish immigrants are certainly a hot topic of conversation in the UK at the moment!

Sir Chuck, to install beta 8 do you have to uninstall beta 7 first or does it upgrade beta7, and do you have to download the version with postgre every time, or once you have postgre you only download the smaller file.
Be patient with me I've finally decided to get Poker Tracker, and it is all new to me, treat me like you would a virgin.

Loved the 14 days comment Ian.

I did not have to do anything other than just download the smaller PT3b8 version without postgres.

It upgraded fairly flawlessly after I rebooted my system. Zorba, there may be an issue with Vista. Reading through the Poker Tracker forums I noticed a spot where others with Vista were referred to a separate download specifically tuned for Vista. I went no further as I don't have Vista, but suggest you seek out that answer there.

Remembering that this is a beta version, there are a few issues with the HUD. Many are probably related to me not being familiar with PT2 and its HUD.
Sizing issues with windows and the placement of the info boxes was my first concern. There is a very tiny box with the Poker Tracker logo at the top of the window and on PokerStars it was right above the dealer chip rack. Clicking opens an option box with some configurable items. After sizing the window and moving the HUD info to where I wanted them to be, I saved that layout and the problem seems to have been solved.

I have not figured out how to make the info boxes more transparent.

Of concern to me is something that I think may turn out to be problematic for Poker Tracker. At showdown, when you might decide to not show your cards because you cant beat a hand, you muck your losing cards so the table won't see. PT3 will show all hands that go to showdown. I am tossing this over in my mind and it still seems to be borderline unethical. I will entertain all arguments.

Other than that this beta is getting close to final release, and looks wonderful. Happy beta tester here.
