PokerStars - Quickest way to get FPP?

Is it sitting at ring tables? Or is it at SnGs? Or just big MTTs?

Ring games - can be expensive if you hit a cold deck, but on an aggressive few tables the points can soon rack up

Does this mean I get 1 FPP every time for it happening or only once? And then the 2nd FPP once I get to that and the 3rd FPP once I get to a $5 rake? Or is it 1FPP EVERY time this happens at the table?

First Frequent Player Point (FPP) is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches:
  • $0.40 for fixed limit poker games with stakes $1/$2 and lower
  • $0.40 for NL/PL poker games with blinds $1/$2 and lower
  • $1.00 for all other games
Second FPP is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches:
  • $2.00 for all 6-max tables (this doesn't apply for games being played 6- handed at 10/9/8 player tables - just 6-max tables)
  • $3.00 for all other tables
Third FPP is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches $5.00.

What are you considering playing?

If it's 1/2 or lower, then basically 1 FPP for every hand where the rake is at least 0.40, which happens if the pot is $8~9 or so, I don't remember the exact amount. Unless you're planning to play pretty significant stakes, don't worry about the 2nd FPP. Keep in mind the 1st, 2nd and 3rd FPPS are per hand. Every time this happens at a table when you were dealt cards, you get FPPs.

Or, for each dollar you pay to buy into a SnG you get one, so a $5 + 0.50 gives you 5 FPPS.

I guess if you just want FPPS, you could buy in minimum at at least a $10NL table, push the top 5 hands, fold everything else and collect FPPs off everyone elses play. I dunno if that would be cost effective. Or much fun. But in theory it might work.

Just to clarify this, "participation" means that you were dealt cards, nothing more. As long as you received cards, even if you mucked immediately, you are considered participating in the hand. Which is also part of the reason that if you sit out in a ring game you'll notice that it skips you all together and you don't get cards.

These rules are a per hand basis. So everytime any hand meets the stated criteria for your game type, you will get from either 1, 2, or 3 FPPs depending on the final rake. But if you hit the second criteria, for example, then you get 2 FPPs for that hand, not 1 + 2.

Edit: Ninelions beat me to it.

Not a whole lot of FPPs to be made at the micro limits, but the low limits you can really pick up FPPs quite quickly!! I noticed this during the rampaging contest that sitting at the $100 tables with the min buy in I was getting 1 or 2 FPPs almost every hand.

**NOTE - sitting at a table you are not properly rolled for with a minimum buy in is NOT recommended. If the rampaging contest proved anything, it's that rampaging is a losing practice (for the majority who tried) and is horrible BR management.

Yeah, I'd estimate 4 or 5 FPPs per hour at $10NL, obv more as you go up. Below $10NL it'll be pretty slim pickings.

This should be interesting, TB. Out of morbid curiosity I popped into PT and randomly looked at four $25NL games and found together I was averaging about 11 FPPs per hour (50 FPPs for 4.5 hours). Didn't look at any other levels, but your post above got me curious.
