Pokerstars question

As some of you know, im new to pokerstars after only playing at full tilt, but i was wondering, what to the pokerstars mean that are above the pictures on some poeple avatars?

The pokerstars are pokerstars.net players, play money obviously.

Actually, I always thought it was just another avatar you could choose from. One is totally blank, one is the star at the top, or you can upload your own pic.

.net doesn't allow players to upload avatars I believe. At least it didn't before.

I encountered a person with a star playing in real money last week. I wondered how that was even possible.

^^^^ the person i saw was playing in the daily 50k sat freeroll thing. I didnt realise .net could play in that, but thats probably how those make money. Also dont play that freeroll, i thought it was going to be an easy ticket to a big tourny, turned out to be the biggest donkfest ever and i got knocked out with pock 5's<10,3

Well firstly i didnt know it was 10k entrants, i expected about 1k

and secondly i didnt realise it was turbo until the bb was 100 and i was yet to paly a hand

My friend who plays their said its because they signed up thru pokerstars.net not pokerstars.com. I dont think he was fibbing to me so i think thats what it is.
