Hi you guys,

I was flipping the channel tonight to channel 11 to watch the Big Game hosted by pokerstars.net but another program came on.

Does anyone know if it's because of shutting down the site's ?

Thanks for your time.

be careful because the mod will give you a warning for short posts. Read the rules& facts first. They don't play around with people they don't know.

Well spending $$$ to sponser a TV show that can no longer draw customers seems a bit pointless. Maybe PS pulled out meaning the show is looking for new sponsers.

April 18, 2011 2:30 p.m. PDT: PokerNews has confirmed via a source close to the shows that both the PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge and PokerStars.net Big Game have been cancelled.

This sucks. :( The Big Game really was one of the better poker shows; entertaining and had an original premise. Worse yet, imagine what the ramifications are for televised poker as a whole. Are new PAD episodes projected to air this later year going to get canceled, too?

I'm sure any poker show not affiliated with PS, FT, or Absolute poker will be aired. I don't know who sponsors PAD, but if it's one of the big 3, it'll probably get canceled, who knows.

PAD has been a Full Tilt production for some time now.

I'm pretty sure I read that NAPT coverage is going to stop now as well and that Stars/Tilt sponsored segments won't be appearing in this year's wsop coverage.

So now you can't play it, you can't watch it... What's next? Can't think about it either? Since when did the USA become North Vietnam??

FWIW the only reason the programs mentioned above are disappearing is because there's no reason for them to exist any more - at least not from the point of view of a Full Tilt or poker stars.

Whether or not people realised it these shows were nothing more than advertising for the sites. In some cases the sites even had to buy the air time that they were shown in as well as paying for their production. Think of them as a more entertaining version of the Shamwow guy. The were infomercials.

Now that the sites don't have any customers left in the USA there's no point advertising to them any more. Spending any more money on them would be a waste.

And that's before we even get into networks getting squirmish about accepting money from companies that have been charged with money laundering and bank fraud...

I expect poker shows that don't suffer from this problem (WSOP, WPT, etc) will continue as per normal, although the absence of Stars and Tilt sponsorship dollars may hurt some of them too.
