PokerStars 5 million playmoney challenge

Ok so as I said in a different thread I'm going for 5 million playmoney chips on PokerStars. And I also asked if there was anyone else who was interested in joining me in this challenge, call it a race, first to 5 million.

I do believe I have a head start.
My current bankroll is 2,018,000.
But this doesn't matter as much as for me it's less about the race
and more about actually getting there, and then selling of course to start my own bankroll .

Haha well i has up to 500000 play chips, then hit a massive downswing and somehow lost them all. I was in the 'meh its only for play' mind frame. So im back to 1000, but ill keep trying!

Haha i think im int he middle of a IntelPoker lesson. They're all speaking German and getting very irrate as i keep pushing all in with ATC pretty much screwing theyre whole little class up. Ah well theyve turned my 1k into 15k in 3 mins, so ill take a lil abuse

Have you seen the new 1/2 playmoney private tables? It looks like its where Intellipoker teaches their students how to minbet and minraise NLHE. No way I'll make it to 5million, too tempted to sell as soon as I get any.

People actually buy fake money???? why would they buy fake chips???? How much does 1 million fake chips get you anyway??

Yes they do, the going rate is $10-$12.

I think selling them early is a bad idea. It takes chips to earn chips. So if you sell with the idea of selling more later, keeping a nice chunk of chips in reserve is a good idea.

Personally, I have just over $1 million in play chips. I don't care much about them, and would gladly sell them for $10 *except* for the fact that with $1 million I can get to $2 million a whole lot quicker than I can get to $1 million again from $1,000.

In fact, it'd probably take just as long to get from $1 million to $10 million as it would to get from $1,000 to $1 million.

And isn't there some bonus for selling $10 million at a time?

Note: If I ever sold $10 million play money chips, I'd only do it after I had $11 million or more in the bank.

Your right it took me about 3 days to get from 1 mil to 2 mill and about 3 weeks to get to 1 mil (I was in my exams tho) so selling later is better imo.
Plus if it's the start of your BR you have better chances with $50 than with $10 .

Currently I'm at 2,5 mil after winning another 18h 80k yesterday night/this morning. Bring it Inscore

Well i thought id better update everyone on my progress:

In all seriousness i dont know how you do it.. I can get up to ~50K then i start throwing chips around. I hit abt 30K last night, then subsequently lost it over a couple hours. It just doesnt hold the excitment for me as its play :S. I think im going to adopt a new tactic. Get 10000 chips, then enter one of those 180+ SnGs and try take it seriously.

Dropped about 350k in sng buy ins this morning.
Was doing a million things at once and played pretty bad.
Just finished first in a 18h 80k tho, so now I'm back to 2,7 million.

Cracked the 3 million mark yesterday, 2 more million to go !

Well i thought id drag this thread up, as im STILL working on it. Haha its taken a while but ive finally got a good break through. Hit 200k by pushing my 30k all in with AK PF and getting 7 callers, then hitting tripsicles on the flop (Yes, its taken like 2 weeks for me to make 200k..) 5mil here i come! (Though tbh ive got no idea how ill get there)

I am at like 6k? lol i think i am losing

I'm at 64k, I sold my remaining 2 mil a couple of weeks ago after going on a 1 mil downswing.

At 4 mil now. Anyone notice that the buying price for ps play chips has been dropping?

That is probably because they have added new sng limits.
150k and 200k in 2, 4, 6 or 9 handed. the other limits have HU and 4 handed now too. I like ! Wish I hadn't sold them now .

Gonna try and work my way up from 64k.

im in but im doing it at fulltilt and im at like 9000

sold 5 mil, now working my way back up from 100k. see if I can reach 10 mil this time. Or I might cave and sell at 5 mil again

Yeah they helped a lot. Even though the buy in is like 2 dollars worth of play chips most players are still major fish. Take them down - they are garbage.

I once sold 1 million play chips a long time ago on Pokerstars but the money is long gone now.

Back when I first started playing at Full Tilt just for play money I made it up to 5 million but didnt know you could actually sell it for real money so I eventually lost it at the huge stakes.

The original challenge was to make it a sort of race first to 5 mil. But that has sorta ended. It's just about getting a reasonable amount of playchips, like 5 mil or 10 mil whatever, and then selling that. The going rates appear to be $10 per million. so 5 mil would get you $50.

i could never sit a play for a 5 million play chips that would make my head explode lol but good luck to you. why not just try to win some real money and be done wirth it.

Because maybe some people can't deposit, or are tired of losing their deposits, this is a way of practice and free money if you succeed.

couple years ago I sold a mil when that was almost everthing I had....
my impatience to get actual cash for em cost me the opportunity to get alot more

as SP said.. it's a much easier task to go from 1 mil to 10 mil than it is to get that first mil from a 1,000...also as he said, many times you can get more per million if you sell in chunks of 5 or 10 million or more (alot of sites will pay an extra .50-1.00 or more per mil for the big chunks)

it's tempting to cash in that million as soon as you get there, but it's def a smarter move to at least leave yourself with 500k in reserve

once you have some chips, the S&Gs are the best br builders IMO ( I like the 27 man 50k)




for those that dont know about it, USE PokerStars Test client to build your play chip br ..... the test site allows you to transfer chips to regular site and they give you 2 to 1 for your chips (ie; transfer 1k from test site and receive 2k on reg site)

PokerStars Test tip: just like at the reg site, any time you're under 100 chips you can reload up to 1000 total (3 reloads per hr).....and if you reg for a S&G or two and doing so leaves available balance under 100 chips, you can sit at ring table and reload.....use this to your full advantage

to get off to a good start, use as much of your 1,000 chips as you can to reg for a couple S&Gs (one that wont fill anytime soon, you dont want to play it).... best method is to get your starting stack of 1000 chips up to 1050+, them immediately leave table and enter 1000 + 50 S&G.....

then go sit back at ring game and reload your chips......then go unreg from S&G and presto.....you have 2050 chips....

then rinse, repeat (add 50 to get 2100 and reg for two 1000 + 50.......reload, then unreg and you have 3100....can do again at 5,200 chips or if you fall back around 2100.....

just as it's tempting to sell a million as soon as you get there...it may be tempting to transfer 5 or 10k to main site for the 2-1 transfer rate,....but dont do it.... leave yourself at least 20 to 30k or even 100k on the test site so that you have the br to play the highest stakes and still be able to weather a few bad losing sessions

the fact that people out there are willing to pay for play chips is the best news around for those that wanna build a RM br without depositing
