Pokers effect on life What I am wondering, is if anyone else has ever caught themselves doing or thinking something different that they never would if it wasn't for poker in their normal non poker related life? Me personally, I found that whenever I go to pay for something, and I have three of the same coins in my hand, I usually end up doing like a chip twirl without thinking about it.

I was discussing the Iraq war the other day and brought up pot odds as an example, the people there thought I was a tad crazy (but I had a good point, basically I was saying the whole "we don't want them to have died in vain" argument doesn't fly, they're already in the pot, but if by withdrawing we lose progress, it should be looked at what we lose, we have what we have, just like you shouldn't chase the flush draw because "I don't want to lose the money I already put in there" but on the other hand you also lose your chance at the pot, sometimes you had odds, hope that made sense to you because it didn't really make any sense to the population of no serious poker players)

I like to think of things in the similar perspective to Using Poker Analogy to explain general concepts as the stock market, and Bankroll Management Theory. Quantum Mathematics seems to creep in there also! The multiple ways to relate one thing to another allows for greater depth perception toward any subject in abstract ways! Playing Poker for nickels, dimes and Quarters instead of chips gives a person a more accurate approach to what is going into the pot. |

I think I pay more attention to people's body language now than I did before I started paying poker. It's amazing how many times someone is telling me something, I look at their body language and think, "they are totally bluffing me."

i try to calculate what the risk vs outcome are in situations alot more and try to read into what people mean and ther body language and like r they "bluffing" or not being real and such things haha but ya i think its mainly trying to guess the odds of different things, but i think thats a good thing so i wont complain, makes me stop and think before doing things which is always good
