Poker Tracker for Sit 'n' Gos?
Hey ya'll, Question: I'm sure some people here use statistical hand/player-tracking programs like Poker Tracker. Does anyone have any thought or comment about its usefulness in a SnG? Obvious problems include that players leave when eliminated, and that tightness/looseness changes as the number of players and blinds change. Let's say you play the same type of SnGs regularly, but on a large site, so that you often see familiar faces but there are perpetually lots of new faces as well. Thoughts anyone? |

Don't take my word for it, but I believe Poker Office tracks SnG's. I have never used it for SnG's, but I have used it for ring games and MTT's, so I am certain that it supports SnG's as well. Great program and will track every aspect of the game for you, including opponents style.

PokerTracker does just fine with SnG's.
IMHO, you get more from analyzing your own SnG play than your opponents' play since the situations do change, as you described. Although you CAN check your opponents' actions at specific blind levels, their stack size may affect their actions differently. (FP could give you more on this.) |

I am thinking of purchasing poker tracker or Holdem manager myself for Turbo SNGs. I am thinking the same thing as beriac, that sngs go through low-medium-high blind phases which changes the play dramatically, contrary to the cash games. Can anyone with experience please give a good advice?? Are those programs useful for sngs?

I'd like to know, is the data separable?
I mean, if I am in a sit-and-go, am I only seeing data collected from playing this guy in sit-and-go's, or will the data I see include his cash and MTT play as well? If it is separable, how well does the filter work? Could I say, look at his data for all sit-and-gos, and then quickly switch to display only his data from sit-and-go's with entry frees greater than $50? |

re: Poker Tracker for Sit 'n' Gos?
I use PT3 for my HUD and always use it when I'm playing my SNGs on Stars. Since I multitable with all tables cascaded not tiled, I find it very useful for having a basic read on the players, VPIP & PFR Also it does help in identifying the regs.

No, it doesn't separate the different phases, but that's not what it's intended for. You should know your self later in the tourney someone is going to loosen up. And take that into consideration when seeing what their stats are.

Yeah you can still rely on the features in poker tracker, tournament indicator, etc. In a general sense. Like you stated, player will change up their playing styles. Some people like to play tight at first and get more LAG at later escalations. And others like to play loose at first and get more tight later.
In my personal opinion tools like these are better suited for ring games. But at times can be very helpful in tournament play. I would only use them for SnG's they don't do much good in large tourneys where you are likely to be moved to 5 - 6 - 7 different tables within an hour. |

re: Poker Tracker for Sit 'n' Gos?
In holdem manager you can set it to track seperate data depending on the amount of people left at the table. So if you get to the bubble, the stats will reset and just the 4 handed data will be displayed, then you can set it to reset again at 3 handed or heads up aswell...
