Most of the serious players use it. Why would you choose not to? The information you gather is quite valuable at making you a better player.

It's well worth it, but I wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary. If you're serious about winning and can afford it, then by all means get it.

I went for like 3 or 4 months of playing without it and I did just fine but now that I have it I never want to play without it. I was playing poker on one of my friend's computers once and I was kinda scared to go into a ring game because I wouldn't have all of the information I was used to having. The price you pay to get it though is well worth it and it will help you make back your investment and a lot more.

Thank you. So specifically in what ways does it really help your game?

Everything

It tracks profits, saves hand histories for later review, and gives you stats on every part of the game you could think of.

I mainly use it for hand history review and using it alongside PAHUD to give me in-game stats for making multitabling easier and decisions in general easier.

I'd love to be able to play without it. But since most of my opponents use it, I feel like I have to use it to be on an even playing field. However, many players who do use it don't know what to make of its data. So it's not just about using it. It's about using it well.

i was wondering the same thing. i do pretty good, definitely need to work on BR management, but i was thinking if i need pokertracker to take my game to the next level and actually be able turn an overall profit. im thinking i should hold off on depositing and take that money and get pokertracker instead the next time i have the extra money.

i'm playing on bodog and i'm not using PT cause the site doesnt support it.
i do see it as a disadvantage when others are using software such as PT & PAHUD to improve their play. If the sites that you're playing on support PT and PAHUD, do get it by all means.

Well this is unanimous support for PT. I'll get it. Probably just the trial version for now. Poker Tracker 3 is supposed to be released this month.

I have recently been taking poker a lot more seriously, I got it. I don't have enough hands stored for any real valuable information though.

PT does support Bodog, but you have to buy the add-on handgrabber for it to work.

I am having trouble decihering all the information that PT provides and setting it up for different sites is a challenge. How can I see the stats just for the session I am playing? I just want the information on the players currently at my table. I have PAHUD but it blocks the call/fold/raise buttons on some sites.

Help !!

You need to use the Layout Manager in PAHUD. In the PAHUD program window, click Options>Layout Manager. Then you can chose which site layout you want and which stats you want to show up and where. Drag the stats to where they don't block other things. You can even change the font type, size, and color. And don't forget to fix up your "Mucked Hands at Showdown" display for each site.

OMG, please don't start this again. Pat, the owner, writer, and main support at PokerTracker, deserves to be paid for his hard work. I would imagine the folks at PokerAce do, also. Please don't endorse software piracy.

I've profited without it for a while now. But I really think it would be awesome if I took the time to purchase it, I don't see how it could hurt.

The HUD might, but the main program doesn't.

Is PT allowed at all sites? I read that people were selling lists of people they tracked at sites.

You don't even have to have it running while you play, all it does is import hand histories that you save on your hard drive.

It will track players taht you play with, so it can be useful for figuring out tendencies and such

Citing Stars as an example, PT is allowed, what is prohibited is the sharing of PT information through a public database, for example.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH POKER TRACKER

oh , I mean unless you're willing to put the time into it . lots of hard work to understand all the information you get and how to use it to your benefit.

the people who can benefit from PT are already keeping track of some different stats and studying HH'S and all that stuff and then PT helps them do it easier .

I do not have it because I can't afford it but I'm thinking seriously about getting the new one soon , my problem is I'm not sure I can or will put the time and effort in it that it takes to make it worthwhile.

good luck to all who do get it , I know the help is here to back you up .

I'm thinking about developing a web-based version of a similar product to poker-tracker. Think sharscope and pokertracker combined with some nifty features... give me a months or so and I'll have it ready for alpha/beta testing. The initial two sites it will support will be FTP and Cake.
