First off let me start with I know tools won't make me a great player
So i'm seeing a lot of advertisements for tools such as -Holdem indicator And I was wondering the opinion of people who have actually used them Can they help my game? (as a relative beginner) |

re: Poker tools
Don't bother with Holdem Indicator.
Its more of a poker learning tool than anything else. Problem is that you will be learning without understanding. The best software is without a doubt PT3 / HEM (these days HEM is probably the best choice) This software will not in the slightest tell you how to play, it will however show you how you play and how others play. By reading and gaining an understanding of the game you will be able to look at the HUD and think, well I hold x.. he plays a range which probably beats me right now, however his post flop play is weak and he tends to fold to decent sized bets in this situation. Therefore my best option is to raise he will fold x% of the time, I know that my bey has to only work y% in order to show a profit. Other than cards 1,2,or 3 coming on the turn, if he calls I am done with this hand. Holdem indicartor will not get you thinking like this. HI says raise, you don't know why but you do it anyway. |

Holdem Indicator gives you the percentage you have to improve your hand to a better one, gives you the number of outs you have, etc...
It's very useful information, but as Stu Ungar says, it would be better if you could do the job alone ![]() If you play CG, the tracking options of HEM and PT3 are more valuable stuff than Holdem Indicator can provide ![]() |
