Poker Tools?

Hi I am a beginning player - and I want to find out what parts of my game I can improve.

Is there a poker program out there that will take your hand history, analyze it, and then tell you stuff like - "Stop raising UTG with A rag", or "Don't bluff with nothing when 2 people have already reraised."

I know I probably make a lot of really stupid mistakes - but having a program point it out for me in b/w would be really cool.

Depends on what you play. I personally use poker edge, HOWEVER, do not install this software... do not search other people. Use it for yourself and only yourself. Poker edge is banned by both fulltilt and pokerstars since it gives you an unfair advantage.

With that said though, you can search yourself and then you have the option to send an email to yourself with a full report on how you play. It gives you a lot of different stats on your playing style and where you need to either tighten up or loosen up, etc. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck on the felt

Ok so this is my report:

Big Bets Won / 100 hands N/A Positive indicates a winning player; negative is a losing player. VP$IP 4.5 Shows how tight or loose a player is. Less than 20% is considered tight. Greater than 40% is very loose. PreFlop Raise% 4.5 Raising preflop more than 10% is somewhat wild. 5% is average. Less than 3% is passive. PostFlop Aggression 0 This is the ratio of (bets+raises) to calls. Greater than 2 is aggressive, less than 1 is passive. Cold Call% 0 Calling 2+ bets "cold" preflop. Numbers greater than 10% show looseness. Blind Steal Attempt% 50 How often a players raises in late position to "steal" blinds. If number is greater than PreFlopRaise%, he is a stealer! Fold Small Blind to Steal% 0 How often a player folds his small blind to a steal. If this number is high, you can steal his blind easily. Fold Big Blind to Steal% 0 How often a player folds his big blind to a steal. If this number is high, you can steal his blind easily. Went to Showdown if Flop Seen% 50 How often a player goes to showdown if he sees a flop. Numbers greater than 35% show a calling station. Showdown Win% 0 How often a player wins at showdown. Numbers lower than 50% show weak hands at showdown.
I'm a little confused. What does this tell me?

If I download pokeredge on a computer that I don't use to play poker - will it tell me more?

My guess is if it's on the same network, the IP address will give you away. I'd say either just don't do it or do it from an external IP address.

Any other programs that will analyze my play - that is not banned? I can't imagine that getting coaching advice would be considered cheating.

Your best bet... Just practice practice practice. Don't play with money you can't afford to lose, and learn from your mistakes. If you're playing every hand, every other hand, or even every third hand, you're playing too many hands. I fold about 85% preflop and It's earned me a fortune. I'm bordering quitting my 2 jobs and just playing full time.

Basically, KK, KA, AA I keep, I'm skeptical about any other preflop hand. I determine where to go with any other hand based on my position.

I like to bluff too. I'd say half of my br is from good bluffs.

The obvious answer is Poker Tracker. That is the most popular analytical tool.

This shouldn't be a problem as they shouldn't be tracking your network.

I had the demo version installed on my laptop that I ocassionally play with and did not have problems running any of the poker software. Just remember not to have it open when you're playing and you should be safe.
