Poker Software: How Important? How important is poker software in your opinion? What I like to do, since I'm on a mac and there basically is no poker software, is I look up my opponents on poker-edge.com and PTR. PTR shows me their poker success and poker-edge shows me what kind of player they are (agg/agg, passive/agg, etc) and their looseness. Do you think someone with poker software is at a distinct advantage against a non-software user? I was just playing today and this reg kept re-raising me pre-flop. It crossed my mind that he might just be doing this if he saw like a "fold to 3 bet" stat or something.

more important when multitabling i think.. if you play 1-2 tables, you "should" be able to keep track of how they play.. also is handy for collecting a database so if you dont see that player for 6 months you may have some idea of how he plays.. im talking more about poker tracker 3 or HEM btw.. and yes i believe the software user is at a slight advantage, but at the end of the day a good player without software will still beat a bad player with all the software

PT3 works on mac now. poker software has 2 main purposes. 1.Track your own play 2.Give you mor info on opponents at the table. If you take poker seriously and then it is essiential as thos two things are essiential in developing your game and increasing your winrate.

While it's not necessarily the case that he's using HEM or PT3 (you don't need a HUD to 3bet someone to death who folds a lot to 3bets), you describe him as a reg - depending on what stakes you play, if he's a multitabling reg, it's extremely likely that he's using HEM or PT3. |

I think that poker tracking software is very important. Any information that you have on your opponent that your opponent doesn't have on you is usually an advantage. I find that especially in lower paced MTTs pokertracker is very good since the stats start to be very useful after hundreds of hands. Watch, PT only tracks the hands that you play and does not track games that you don't participate in...

Poker Tracker 3 Hey I just downloaded and purchased the Poker Tracker 3 Software for Mac... is it just me or those this software act like Poker Table Ratings does... http://www.pokertableratings.com well, it's a little better... because it also keeps track of your tournaments, PokerTableRatings only does cash games... I also use PokerListings Online Player Search, to figure out what kind of player is at my table, and I write it in as the player note, and color code them... GREEN = MOUSE, GREEN FISH, RED FISH RED = BOMB YELLOW = WARNING ORANGE = MANIAC BLUE = SHARK PURPLE = ROCK My believe is, regardless of the software you use... it comes down to the end user making the decision weather to push all in, fold, or call... The real software is in your brain, you got to be able to count your outs, figure out your pot odds, and your chances of hitting... because when you decide to play a real live game... you can't use any of the software.
