The thing is with propping is you lose the advantage of picking where you play who you play against etc. You will often find you have to leave a juicy table to start a new one and also play shorthanded a lot. Not really a problem if you can play short handed well, but if not then you will find it tough going against people who do. Otherwise its some extra money so why not ;]

They do it because people don't usually like to start a new table up. Heads up play, you are going to pay the blinds a lot more and its tough if you don't have enough experience. So the more tables that are started, the more players will be sitting and playing. Which in turn means they will get more rake. Generally online propping, they don't actually get paid as such. They get to play and get all their rake back. Of course this does vary from place to place and only the sites are going to really know how much propping goes on.

Yeah I checked into those deals and to be honest just didn't seem to be worth the trouble. I did see one type of player who would benefit that is a player who likes to play shorthanded anyway, you might as well take advantage and get a little of your scratch back.

Well Lady if you look at it relative to the amount of money you win or lose we are talking about 5% or so depends on that particular site's rake structure, 5% is for arguement's sake. So a. We aren't talking about alot of money relative anyway b. There is no real competitive advantage and c. Having to play shorthanded means you will be involved in ALOT more hands which means in theory you should lose more. So most likely you will actually come out behind at least that's the way it looked to me but again a good player against good players we aren't talking about much money at all. The point to my rambling it's not a big deal.
