Poker Leeches Anyone else sick of the people complaining about freerolls filling up too fast, being removed, containing too many bad but lucky players etc etc ETC!??? I play on full tilt where they have just run a promotion lasting some many months for the Poker After Dark series. Free game, 180 seats and winner gets 100 ftp's. A few wins there and you can buy into a few decent games. However, they were concluded this weekend after the final, and there have been dozens of posts from players crying that there are no free games for them anymore, and these PaD games subsidised their play. I played these games a lot, won quite a few, and enjoyed them as a perk; but 90% of the players complaining about their removal have never even made a deposit! They just come to tilt expecting something for free then sulk when it finishes! I dont know why I get so frustrated about this, but I believe that the free-rolls should be for players who've made a deposit ONLY. Then they wouldn't fill up in 30 seconds with poker hobo's who want desperately to win the $2 prize and donk it off the next day in micro-stakes. I am not short of cash, but still play in odd freerolls. In fact, I have played little else on FT this month, as i'm waiting for an email from them clearing up a couple of issues, but I feel entitled to play them as i've spent over $1000 with them. I HATE POKER CHEAPSKATES! Lets make all the freerolls post-deposit only please. If the none-deposit players want to complain; "oh, but I cant afford to deposit at the moment, and I love poker", or "I'm just checking if i like the site before I make my first deposit" (yea, after 2 years of playing daily freerolls???), then let them play with play chips! GRRRR. If anyone agrees i'd love to have some support. Lol. If you disagree, i'm guessing your a poker leech who's never made a deposit??

Just to let you know I have never deposited on any poker site . I have bankrolls that total about 400 dollars. I still play freerolls but lately I've been concentrating on grinding out micro nl cash games. I know that if I deposited some $$ I would have been off to a quicker start, but I chose to go the freeroll route. So call me a leech if you will But i feel that I've created something from nothing and I'm well on my way to building a bankroll.FOR FREE !!!

I play freerolls too, i'm just saying that people who dont deposit have no room to complain when a tourney fills up or a game is withdrawn. I agree with Cuffslurp, 50/50 between VIP freerolls and open-to-all freerolls would be great. Dweezel. You are one of the few I have some respect for. But most Free players just want to bank a few cents, lose it the next day and complain they cant make any money from poker. Good going being that much up. If I was single, I dont doubt I could do similar. The play chip game on FT that pays out in real $ is on at 2AM here though, as is the HORSE freeroll, RAZZ and a few decent placing others, mostly turbo's. My gripe isn't with the good players wanting to get a foot in the door, its the ones complaining even when they are offered something for nothing. And if I want to enter a freeroll now and again, with the amounts I deposit, I feel I should be able to get into one, not fight to register with the people who drift from site to site playing only free games.

I have never complained about the opportunity for winning free money. Granted it's a long shot, but I have really improved by playing the free rolls. The FR's at Doyle's place isn't too difficult so I get to cash there often. The Full Tilt FR's.....momma mia. Those are alittle more difficult, but the experience in playing in tournaments has been well worth the time I've spent playing the FR's.

Party Poker is the only site I know that you have to make a deposit before you can play in their freerolls. Unless it changed when they revamped their site as i made a deposit 1 1/2 yrs ago.

IMO it's up to FullTilt to change their policy. I'm sure FullTilt is happy to have the "freeloading leeches" logged so they can inflate their players online numbers. Also, I'm sure FullTilt is happy to collect rake on the hands that the "leeches" play with the "free" money. If you look at it from FullTilt's perspective they are propably getting what they want and won't change their freeroll policy. And by the way, FullTilt does have a "freeroll" system for real money players its called the Iron Man Challenge and FullTilt Points.

re: Poker Leeches A few players use poker site freerolls wisely. Others do not. Poker sites encourage the FR players, many by their promotions and TV ads - "Come to xxxxxx .net and play on our site for F-R-E-E...." It's all about marketing and money. Food and beverage industries set up tables or 'stands' at various events, giving away FREE samples of their product. Why? So you will find that you like the 'taste' and then put your money into their product. Poker sites are not exempt from this thinking. Matter of fact, I'd venture a guess that they rather enjoy the "I couldn't get in" publicity. Must be the place to be....eh?

The iron man challenge isn't free, the closest it comes is the 1 a day freeroll, in which you have to spend a minimum of $1 a day for 30 days running to earn the point needed. And points are accumulated by playing real cash. Hardly a freeroll FatBasset. Now if all the freerolls cost 1 point (nothing to a real money player) things would be a whole lot better. And by all means have a few open to everyone, as your carrot to entice players in, but not every game. Where is the sense of community there?

Well, it has to be a place before it becomes a "place to be". Then freeroll - "place to be"? No way, unless you're so hopeless homeless bum, that sweating for 4 hrs to get 2$ is best you can do I play freerolls myself at FT, and the reason is like dweezels - I've lost my initial 50$, so decided I need to see an improvement until I can progress further, and this free money thing is a way to go for me.

I think a lot of players started of with freerolls and build up some nice bankrolls.. look at Annette_15 , girl never deposited any money and look at her bankroll now.. Freerolls are incentives for new players not only for those who deposited money... Thats the way to bring traffic in. Some percentage of the players who started of with freerolls later on deposit real money, some win freerolls and start making more money paying rake to them... You being a bit greedy here...

The hole idea of hosting a freeroll is to make people who doesnt want to risk their own money get a taste of real play, and then maybe in the long run deposit, or who knows, win some more money and become a regular on the site creating traffic and therefore rake to the company. If youre interested in freerolls just for depositing players, there are plenty of sites offering freerolls to regular players, Carbon fx. But if Youre complaining that the people atttending freerolls hasnt made a deposit, I think You have misunderstood the koncept of freerolls

re: Poker Leeches If you read my above posts, I have said that I dont mind none deposit players playing freerolls. What pisses me off is when they complain that they fill too fast or games like the Poker After Dark qualifiers are removed. What right do they have as none site affiliated players to demand that games are replaced, or fields expanded to ridiculous pokerstars sizes just so they never miss one? I agree with freerolls and dont begrudge entry to anyone, but firstly, you wont get a real feel for the game until you deposit and put your own cash on the table, and secondly I think that at least half of freerolls should be post-deposit only as an incentive to deposit some cash. There are a very very small number of people who play them to win and try to build up a bankroll to play real cash, there are a huge majority who just drop all in every time they see an Ace, and cash by complete chance every 100 or so games. Even worse are the ones who register then sit out!! Why do that?? Deny someone a place even if you have no intention of playing??? lol. I will admit I was wrong to say ALL freerolls should be post deposit, but there should be a selection for cash playing site members.

Yes people sitting out through a freeroll and denying someone else a spot are a joke and should be banned from playing freerolls if it happens on numerous occations. Yes people shouldnt complain about fast filling freerolls, but somebody must have seriosly been janking your chain since your so angry about it. Come on get over it. Regarding freerolls for depositing players, isnt that what all the FPP-tourneys on pokerstars and FTPP-tourneys are for? About the level off play in freerolls. Its what to expect. I agree its crappy to loose against a-x with Kings, but if you cant handle a small badbeat, You should consider another hobby. |

Why let others complaining bother you? You're taking it a bit personal aren't you? There will ALWAYS be complainers no matter how good it is and that INCLUDES real money tourneys not limited to freerolls. And for the record i HATE negative complainers. But I also recognize I can't change them. Post deposit freerolls won't solve your problems as your problem is actually the human condition. By the way I deposited $20 on pokerstars found the transition from live cards to internet cards difficult and lost it, then used freerolls to build a bankroll of about $60 across various sites and I am still building. Goal is $1200 on EACH site without a penny of my own. PROUD to be a LEECH! lol GL on the felts.

I say who cares. I focus more on grinding out my BR instead of worrying about people complaining about freerolls. Let them complain, you can't do anything about it. Some people aren't working, times are tough now. They want to play, let them play freerolls. Some people are blessed to have money to put into a poker site. Others count on the freerolls to give them the CHANCE to win ANYTHING to use to play on that site. If they're upset, so what. Let them be. As long as it doesn't effect YOUR life in anyway, then I'm sure you can move on and get over it.

HI KEVKOJAK i agree with what you say about people whinging but i think your bieng a bit harsh about the deposits. i love my poker and am starting to build up a bit of a bankroll through freerolls. i have made a couple of deposits. but due to a incurable illness i am stuck indoors 24/7 and have little money so i have been really glad the freerolls are there. if yhey are full i will wait for the next one.see you at the tables

re: Poker Leeches I Disagree. I think there's no problem with freerolls. They are much harder to win, and the payoff is so much smaller than paid games. In fulltilt's 100$ freeroll you have to play for 6 hours to win the first prize, which is 15$. In the 100ftp freeroll only one or two places win out of 180. That's not so much now, is it? Plus, the paid games a hell of a lot more fun.
